The Servant Fudesuke (Shimobe Fudesuke), from the series One Hundred Ghost Stories from China and Japan (Wakan hyaku monogatari), Tsukioka Yoshitoshi 1865

I have a couple of art books collecting works by Yoshitoshi, so excellent. Expression, body language, clarity. I would say that there's a sort of just-right-ness about this art form that you don't see everywhere, maybe because they had to make decisions based on what could be carved in wood blocks? I think that must be part of it 🤔
