#nowplaying Bolt Thrower - War Master
A blast(beat) from the past, and I still enjoy it immensely.

#nowplaying #thecometiscoming - Channel The Spirits
TCIC is delightfully weird jazzy, sax-driven.... music is as much as I can narrow it down. Eminently danceable at times, but never simple or repetitive. Always interesting and fun.

Today's #vinyl delivery:
- Boards of Canada - In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country
- The Comet Is Coming - Death TO The Planet
- Dozer - Drifting In The Endless VoidQuite a mix of styles, but the Comet one takes the cake: odd electronica with lots of Jazz bits.

As someone who during two longer stays in the UK listened to the Shipping Forecast every morning for months at a time (by virtue of host family members needing it for their jobs), this is just full of memories and oddity.

#nowplaying Photek - Modus Operandi
It took me forever to find a mint copy of this at a reasonable price (typical Discogs price is 90-150 bucks plus shipping, and while I like Photek and particularly this album, that's a bit much). And the sound quality is crisp and clear, as the minimal DnB of Photek demands.

#nowplaying Red Snapper - Making Bones
Red Snapper were (are?) a band that set out to do the whole triphop thing (which wasn't a thing except the press insisted) but with real instruments: drumkit, upright bass, brass here and there. Some people find it too aggressive for their tastes (which may be due to the vocals). I love it for being so rough around the edges, and loud, and very in-your-face. "Image of You" is an outlier and then became a hit of theirs.

#nowplaying Red Snapper - Image Of You
Three remixes of RS's song from the album Making Bones. The first of them is so-so, but both the Rae&Christian and Salt City remixes are interesting re-interpretations of the original.
The other oddity that side A is marked as 33rpm, and side B as 45rpm, but the latter clearly needs to be played at 33 as well.

Bought an #oscilloscope ( #rigol MSO5074) and it allows you to upload images to use as "screensavers". So naturally I had to do this:

#nowplaying Skids - Wide Open
Because the one thing this day definitely needs is More Punk.

#nowplaying: Skids - Wide Open
Skids are probably most widely known for "The Saints are Coming", the opening track of this EP, which was featured in the Boondock Saints movie. The rest of this EP ain't half bad, either.
Anyway, great stuff to listen to when heading into 2024.

#nowplaying King Buffalo - Dead Star
One of the albums that got me back into vinyl records. Slowly but steadily building crescendos, excellent vocals and lyrics. "Eta Carinae" is probably one of my fave KB tracks.

#nowplaying: King Buffalo - Regenerator
Tonight's album on white #vinyl
KB got me back into vinyl for real when I bought Dead Star on a whim (and because I liked its cover). I have everything they ever released on vinyl by now, and I love it all.

#nowplaying: Lord Mountain - The Oath
A very classic-sounding, but modern viking-inspired Heavy Metal concept album.

Just the right thing to start a week.

Parts classic heavy metal, parts stoner rock. Just the right thing for a Sunday morning

Just the right thing for a Friday.

#nowplaying Dozer --- Drifting in the endless void
Dozer released several albums between 2000 and 2008, and then a whole lot of nothing. Last year, they came back with this tight Stoner Rock album and I have been seeking out their older albums since.
Excellent drums, great guitar work and vocals that have character but never overwhelm the rest of the music. Just the right thing to end the Friday workday on.
