[Clackamas] county, which shares a border with the City of Portland, Oregon, had been a flash point of far-right activity as less urban communities were tested for their tolerance of far right extremists such as the Proud Boys–who were central participants in the January 6, 2021 attacks on both the US and Oregon Capitols that day. On June 18th, five months after January 6th, [Proud Boy and Vice Chair…] the Vice Chair of the Clackamas Republican party, Daniel Tooze, who was present in the park that day, told park staff that he and the Proud Boys were going to attack any counter-protestors that showed up.

Mit dem Gedicht „An die Nachgeborenen” erinnert Bert Brecht aus dem Exil an das Versagen des Widerstandes gegen den aufkommenden Faschismus, benennt die faschistischen Verbrechen und richtet sein Wort an zukünftige Generationen.
Wir nehmen dieses Gedicht als Leitfaden für unser Programm mit Liedern und Texten von Bert Brecht, Hanns Eisler, Klaus Mann, Rose Ausländer, Konstantin Wecker, Theodor Kramer, Esther Bejarano u.a. sowie aktuellen eigenen Songs.
Veranstaltung des Freundeskreises Hambacher Fest 1832 im Rahmen des „Solidarischen Frühlings – Neustadt ’25“. Das ganze Programm hier.

Die Mitwirkenden
Bernd Köhler (Gesang, Gitarre) wurde in den 70er-Jahren durch Auftritte als politischer Liedermacher unter dem Namen „Schlauch” bundesweit bekannt und unterstützte mit seiner Kunst konkrete politische oder gewerkschaftliche Aktionen. Mit seinen aktuellen Programmen und der Gruppe ewo2 setzt er diese Tradition fort.
Bettina Franke arbeitet als selbstständige Schauspielerin an verschiedenen deutschen Theatern. Sie konzipiert vielfältige Literaturprogramme, oft in Zusammenarbeit mit Musikerinnen. Bettina engagiert sich gegen Rassismus und die zunehmend brutale Abschottung Europas. Mit Bernd Köhler hat sie schon In vielen Projekten zusammengearbeitet, zuletzt mit dem Bert Brecht-Programm „Oh! sagte Herr K.“
Joachim Romeis (Geige) spielt neben Engagements als klassischer Orchestermusiker In unterschiedlichen Jazz- und Klezmer-Ensembles. Seit 2015 arbeitet er mit Bernd Köhler in der Mannheimer Gruppe ewo2 zusammen.

While in the US, they are more well-known for the "Oh Yeah", in no small part to Ferris Bueller, I'd wager that The Race was more popular in Europe. It definitely was in Germany, in no small part to a TV show called "Formel Eins" (Formula One), which was a charts hit show kinda deal.
Now that I am Swiss, I of course have patriotic feelings, too ;)
I keep wondering if that sax bit was a sample or if they recorded it for this track...
