Greenpeace protesta en Bellas Artes contra proyecto turístico de Royal Caribbean
La dependencia federal señaló que privilegiará la protección de los ecosistemas y el interés público durante el procedimiento.

La organización ambientalista Greenpeace México realizó una protesta en el Palacio de Bellas Artes para exigir a la Secretaría de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (Semarnat) que no autorice el proyecto turístico “Perfect Day Mexico”, impulsado por Royal Caribbean en Mahahual, Quintana Roo. La manifestación ocurrió la mañana de este martes mediante el despliegue de una manta en el andamio instalado frente al recinto cultural.
Durante una entrevista con el servicio informativo Aristegui en Vivo, Carlos Samayoa, coordinador de la campaña “México al grito de Selva” de Greenpeace México, informó que seis activistas participaron en la protesta; explicó que la acción buscó visibilizar los impactos ecológicos relacionados con el proyecto turístico. También indicó que la manifestación se realizó de manera pacífica y sin intervenir la fachada del inmueble cultural.
Protesta en Bellas Artes
Carlos Samayoa declaró que la protesta pretendió llamar la atención nacional sobre la evaluación ambiental que mantiene abierta la Semarnat respecto al proyecto “Perfect Day Mexico”. El activista afirmó que la autorización del complejo turístico podría generar afectaciones severas en un ecosistema considerado frágil. La organización ambiental sostuvo que el análisis técnico del proyecto aún presenta inconsistencias relevantes.
El coordinador de Greenpeace México señaló que la Manifestación de Impacto Ambiental entregada por la empresa contiene vacíos relacionados con los posibles daños ecológicos. Explicó que el área contempla suelo kárstico, manglares y conexión directa con un sistema arrecifal de importancia ambiental. Además, indicó que en la región habitan especies protegidas como el jaguar y distintas variedades de tortuga. –sn–
