We met again. He’s huge.
It’s two months later and ‘my’ moose came barreling in from the left and entered the trail in front of me, jogging. Just like a freeway merge.I should look both ways.

One of the in-house com products I manage is not adored. People try to kill it off fairly often assuming communication should be fluffier and more manageable in Microsoftia, or Googledom, or the Metamegalomart.
This month things changed a bit. Budget crises, Machiavellian privacy practices, expensive SAAS, and the instability of the world … seem to have made #inhouse #infrastructure and apps cool and relevant again.
Niche automations and 100% control over infosec is the new black.

I have studied this manuscript very carefully with lemon juice and X-rays and have not detected a single flaw in either design or writing style. I suggest it be
published without revision. Clearly it is the most concise manuscript I have ever seen …” -

Missing out on today’s stunning trails covered in new snow. ☹️
Why? Sprained ankle. Stupidly.
A spectacular stupidity. How? Ignored inner voice that told me to change out of heels before shoveling snow. Inner brat said: Naaah.

Christmas trees are fun, but I prefer the trees outside.

So, today Japan is making a move in their slow-mo salami tactic claim to the islets of Dokdo-Takeshima.
But I got an uncomfortable back-to-the-future circa 1940 feeling while reading the predictions in this 2011 analysis.
This chess game has fascinating 12th century precedents, a war of information, national romanticism, and that disappointing ever present oil and gas dimension.

@razumasu Good question. After perusing various sources for a wee bit of time, it appears the tech industry does better than average, but suffers with everyone else.
The companies you mentioned specifically weathered the last #recessions (2008–09, 2018–19) quite differently.
My very assailable assumptions for this hasty conclusion were: (1) it is enough to look at two global recessions; and (2) insight can come from revenue trends alone (very unscientific).

High number of commits ≠ Impressive commits. Just aberrant.
Also note: “a 4x growth in code cloning and a rise in ‘copy/paste’ behavior” …
That’s what you would expect to see as a crowd of engaged amateurs around the world try the Big New Thing turorials, while professionals around the world simultaneously test the claims for themselves.

Doh! Moot posting that here.
If you are here on Mastadon you are probably already tech-savvy, likely to consider alternatives and probably an open-source enthusiast.

KOREA: "one people, one nation, two governments" is over.
North Korea is reportedly dropping theoretical unification clauses from its constitution after 70+ years.
This isn’t all good news:
“… analysts said this did not necessarily indicate an end to Pyongyang’s aggressive rhetoric against its southern neighbour …Christopher Green, a senior consultant at the International Crisis Group added ‘Normal states define their adversaries in defence white papers and defence reviews and the like; they do not define their adversaries in the constitution.’ “https://www.ft.com/content/7d795bbc-7c8e-46c9-8705-2f06c58eb961?syn-25a6b1a6=1

Done. Also shovelled this path for my cat.

Polar lows are no joke.
Many seasoned colleagues didn’t make it to the office.• Yesterday: -14°, TONS of snow & TONS of shoveling
• Today: wind + snow + terrible visibility. Tons of snow & more shoveling
• Now: wind just started again. Setting alarm early for—wait for it—much more shoveling.

Just witnessed a dog , clearly worried about his person’s rapid speed of descent, bite her right ski as she was cruising down the hill. Result: Ski came off. Full stop.
