Memories:”My wife noticed a large bird flying from one tree to another across the street from the gym. An investigation revealed a fat, fluffy great horned #owlet, sitting calmly, feathers fluffed, head energetically gyrating in circles. Across the field, in another tree, sat mama (or papa) #owl & another well-fed #strigidae fledgling - watching us intently, back-lit nicely in the golden morning sunlight. #FortCollins, CO ~ April 21st, 2015. #owls #greathornedowl #bird #birdphotography

The most difficult thing about this week has been that #StellaTheExtraMiniDachshund doesn’t understand what has happened to her best bud - “Grandpa Dog,” and what to do with her day now that it’s just her & cats & humans in this house.

@swest6602 an old Air Force compadre of mine (Chelsie) - found, rescued, fostered & socialized him until he was 8 wks old. She named him Bart. We picked him up in Durham, NC, (it had been 30yrs since I had seen Chelsie in person back in ‘92 in the UK). He came home to Olney, IL. He fetches toys (truly fetches) all day long, chases “ghosts” and is a total ham & acrobat. Our Bart also has a #blackcat brother: #BashBlackCat. I’m sorry to hear about your Bart. He was a handsome guy.

Audio books: I’m listening to “Middlemarch” after my wife recommended it to me; it’s her all-time favorite book. Not my normal genre by any means, but wow(!) what amazing, insightful writing. Written between 1869-1871 by Mary Anne Evans, who wrote as George Eliot. Fantastic, thick writing. Some truly masterful, subtle and sublime observations of the human condition and the world we live in. More to say about that later most likely. #TruckerHam #AudioBooks

#StellaTheExtraMiniDachshund doesn’t care if it is Caturday. She knows Bash is cool, but she thinks that she’s the cutest one.

Bash, our 3-legged giant, wanting the world to know that he’s a very cool cat that should be recognized this #Caturday. #BashBlackCat #BlackCat
