A cold frontal passage tonight (with showers and a few thunderstorms ahead of it this evening) will bring a modest cooldown for the midweek period, followed by a more pronounced warmup to summer-like temperatures by the weekend. The warmer weather late this week and this weekend will be accompanied by an occasional threat for thunderstorms. -

Gusty southwesterly winds through early this evening may lead to blowing dust near farm fields. Localized visibility reductions to less than 1 mile will be possible, primarily in rural areas south of I-80 where a Blowing Dust Advisory is in effect. The strong winds and low relative humidity may also lead to an elevated fire danger in drier agricultural fields. -

The combination of warm temperatures, dry conditions, and gusty west-northwesterly winds will lead to an increased threat of fire spread through early this evening across northern Illinois and portions of central Illinois. Limit activities that may cause sparks or involve open flames. #ILwx #INwx
