Went to the park today so that I could walk while listening to / participating in the #KOWABUNGAnet on the #DODROPINcinference via #Echolink. I ran into a buddy there (another local ham) who just happened to be out for a walk, and we saw one of Olney’s white squirrels posing for a promotional Olney photo. #OlneyWhiteSquirrel #WhiteSquirrel #WhiteSquirrelsOfOlneyIllinois

They even have a street, White Squirrel Way, and a café named after them.

Olney City Park today. It’s a shame that I didn’t get the focus right on the first pic. I really like the composition of that photo otherwise. First time I’ve had that camera out of its case since 2019! These are two different #squirrels. First one was across the street to the northwest of the stage. We saw three #OlneyIllinois #WhiteSquirrels on our short drive through town yesterday. Always cool to see them out and about. #WhiteSquirrel #OlneyIL

Today we spotted one of Olney’s famous white squirrels as we were driving through the Olney City Park. While the #WhiteSquirrel population is in decline (the city has volunteers do a count every year) it is still not uncommon for us tp spot at least one during our drives through town. We have at least one that lives in our neighborhood. A fun little quirky characteristic of our fun little quirky town. #OlneyWhiteSquirrel
