We have a new arrival to our family today, Pipi, aka Pipsqueak, aka Pipsicle, aka Pipi the potato.
She seems to be settling in fast.

This isn’t just another picture of Lola in the studio …
it’s a step toward making my #DolbyAtmos system sound the way it’s really meant to.
Right now, I’m testing a new pair of speaker stands to see if they’re stable enough to do what I want to do with them. They are! Now I need two more pairs.
Just to be clear, this is the ^rear^ of the studio – it was a lot easier to access the speakers for a stand test than to start with the front.
I’ve raised the height channels so they’re closer to the ceiling, instead of sitting on top of the surround speakers …
but this is only step one. They’re still bouncing the audio off the ceiling – which is one of the modes they were designed for …
but what I need to do now is rotate them 90° so the backs are vertical, and the speakers are angled down at the center of the room, and firing directly at me. That’s the alternate mode, and the speakers have a crossover switch so that the EQ curves are proper for each one.
I think I know how to do it, but I’m still working on the final design. I’ll keep you posted. I live in an apartment, so I can’t just drill into the ceiling to mount them – hence the stands.
Lola is actually lying on one of my synthesizers … I have to negotiate with her if I want to use it.

I removed a bin from a shelf to get a lens …
I turned around for a second or two, and heard a *whump* behind me.
I turned back, and there she was.
I asked her to wait while I grabbed my iPhone for a pic. It’s a little blurry, but you get the idea. She had to jump from about three feet away, which was a pretty tricky maneuver!

I heard some protest chants out in the paddock. Turns out it was my Chief Culture Jammer Doom Kitty.
Doom Kitty is not angry but definitely disappointed at the things in the feed getting all the ephemeral oxygen. She would love it if you took a moment to read and boost the above top post in this thread and amplify some good connections for creative resistence and support independent artists doing a thing.
And of course more cats.
Come on fedi, flood the feed until we get at least one clout VIP accidentally boosting an independent artist.

Lola Falafel has discovered a new trick, and I swear she's getting endless amusement from tormenting me with it.
I spend a *lot* of time on the Mirra chair in front of the studio computer, but I inevitably need to get up for one thing or another … tea, a snack, my phone – for a quick photo like this one –
and that’s when Lola makes her move, and appropriates the empty chair. She *knows* I don’t have the stomach to oust her from it (just look at that smirk)
so I get a little stool from the bedroom to hunch at the desk with, and wheel her chair out of the way.
Once I’ve been sitting again for a few minutes, she loses interest and goes looking for a sunny spot to lie down. This happens two or three times a day.
I’m convinced she knows exactly what she’s doing – she’s very fast. I don’t even need to leave the room to lose my seat.

I’m getting to know my new Voigtländer 27mm f/2 pancake lens with the Fujifilm X-T5.
Took a little walkaround … of course, I have to start with Lola, ’cause that’s what the public wants! : )
It’s a wonderful lens; for the time being, it’s going to live on the camera.

Yesterday was 200mm NIKKOR day, and I tested your patience with a batch from my first test walk.
Today, I’m going to exercise a little restraint, and share just one pic from my newly-arrived #Viltrox 56mm f/1.4 short tele (85mm equivalent, a classic portrait length.)
I can tell I’m going to love working with this lens … gorgeous bokeh, great detail …

Today marks the second anniversary of Lola Falafel’s arrival here at her forever home. She’s the sweetest cat, and I love her immensely.
She’s already had some of her special catnip, and she’s got extra treats and goodies for later on.
It’s absolutely frigid outside – 10º F – but she has a warm spot on the sofa, lying on her heating pad and basking by the portable radiator.

Here’s a follow-up pic of Lola, who loves to sit on the desk as I’m working to “help” me.
And that’s not sarcasm … she really is a big help. She loves to communicate. Here she’s saying “Whatchoo talkin’ ‘bout, Willis?”
(Now, that was sarcasm.)
She’s incredibly attentive, though, and anything I focus my attention on immediately becomes the focus of hers … a phenomenon all cat lovers are familiar with.

The weather’s turning colder, and I decided to order a heating pad for Lola the kitty,
so she’ll always have a warm place to lie down even when my lap isn’t available.
It arrived today, and Lola claimed it immediately.
The first photo is Lola on her new pad, and the second one was the marketing photo. Twins, right?
(Actually, my Lola has the cuter pink nose.)

Yesterday, the house where I live was checked by the state for lead paint. (It’s the law for all rental properties; all floors passed with flying colors.)
Lola Falafel the kitty – https://lookatmykitty.com – was a real trooper, staying safe & relaxed in her cage enclosure while people came in and out, leaving the doors open.
Today, I noticed that she was staying extra close … I moved my number keypad out of the way, to give her room. What a sweetheart.

I have a laundry basket that collapses like an accordion, but is held open by a spiral spring.
A couple weeks ago, I did my laundry and unloaded the basket in the living room.
When I returned from putting the clothes away, I found Lola the kitty curled up in the basket. She spent most of the next few days there.
So I put a towel over it to make it more like a cave, and added some sheep fur for her to snuggle in.
I’m helpless. She’s happy.

I scored an inexpensive #TTArtisan #fisheye lens for the new #Fujifilm X-T5 camera, and I love it!
You can get as close as 4.5 inches from your subject.
Lola Falafel, however, knows what happens whenever I get new #camera stuff, and is less than impressed.
There’s also a shot of my #Eurorack setup … the distortion makes it look sooo cool.
