  1. Catching up (a bit): #genuary9 #genuary #ludus: Public transport textile design. Main thought: exorbitant colour story. Also: sometimes geometry is annoying.

    web.ludus.dev/?code=let+rt2+%3

  2. #genuary in #ludus. Ludus is the little programming language & environment we're building in the Thinking with Computers project at U of T. web.ludus.dev (although it's yet not really ready for prime time, it is getting close).

I'll be doing as many genuary prompts as possible in Ludus. Some won't be possible, thought perhaps I'll do my best to come up with slant rhymes.

Today's #genuary1 post, on theme: only horizontal or vertical lines. Feeling midcentury.

  3. Been actually working on other things but had an idea for another variant yesterday and didn't want to waste it (already in Nodezator's dev branch).

This time the cursor is a baseball

  4. Okay, you asked, and now there's a hand near the mouse to meet the one on the nearby socket as well. Thank you all for the suggestions so far. (already on Nodezator's dev branch as well).

  5. No guys, hear me out, we might be onto something here! What about tracking eyes that become happy when the connection is reached out? (also in Nodezator's dev branch)

  6. I’ve been struggling with generating a bunch of HCL for #Terraform with #dhall today. Finally got it working and it’s a dream. Can now generate dev and production #infrastructure specs with a single command, then commit, and terraform cloud takes over and executes the plan for us.

Biggest issue was dealing with the lack of text equality checks in dhall, but got around that with union types and it’s much better. Strongly typed, no fat finger mistakes possible. #winning

  7. @dorianlistens - Much of the code I write is very function forward. I'm not a dev by trade (I got my start as a sysadmin) so breaking things into functions makes the most sense to me. To your point, I think a lot of "Yeah, I'm a #functionalprogrammer" devs are also super minimalists as people, which while there is a beauty in simplicity, reading code with lots of single letter params feels very esoteric.

    Feature flag is here: chrome://flags/#prompt-api-for-gemini-nano

When enabled, it powers demos like this: chrome.dev/web-ai-demos/prompt

    #AI #GeminiNano

  9. My hard drive was switching to read only and throwing errors at my face, so I read fsck's manpage and fixed the thing with `sudo fsck -C -V -r /dev/sda1`

This is huge for me, but the best part has been not spending any money.

  10. @goblin saw this on HN tonight. Park Party will likley want to host some images and we’ll need an S3 equivalent to drop them into..

    Maybe this…

    locker.dev/

    news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4

.. in Rails we’d implement the built in module called ActiveStorage and that suppprts S3 or S3 equivalents as a commonly used option..

  11. I’m making one final push for my fundraiser for Cinnamon Pet. 🐾

I’m a Navy vet & dev blocked by a "catch-22": I need grants to launch, but I need money to register the business to get those grants.

Help me clear this hurdle so I can build tech for pets & shelters.

  15. I wrote a short post about the #djangonautspace that wrapped last week.

It was a humbling but rewarding experience and I would like to thank the organizers @djangonaut , the navigator of team Jupiter @thibaudcolas and my teammates Collins, Lupyana and Rahul.
