#JonathanCook | BBC editor's libel case against Owen Jones falls at the first hurdle. Here's why
"Berg and his lawyers had hoped to force Jones to defend the article on the basis it was a “statement of fact”.
This distinction is crucial. Had the judge agreed with Berg’s team, responsibility would have fallen on Jones to prove what amounts to intent by Berg to skew BBC coverage – something that, in the absence of internal documents revealing what was being said behind closed doors – would have been nigh impossible."

#SquidGame season 2 is alright. It builds nicely on season 1.
It kinda does the family, yet, new thing very well, I think.
-
I like #MediaLens but they're pretty much a one trick pony.
Once you've read a few of their articles, you've pretty much read them all. A new article is just the names have been changed.
-
I'm reading Daphne Du Maurier's Blue Lenses and I haven't finished it yet but I want to know what happens to the snake head.

You're a silly billy.
I've not heard anyone use the phrase silly billy for a long time.
Maybe we should call each other silly billies more.

CW: Squid Game Season 1 Spoiler
So ...
I knew how Squid Game was going to end.
I predicted the policeman's brother would be one of the masked game people. Probably a high up game person.
I knew the final episode would drag out with a kind of I-won-but-I'm-not-happy-about-it shtick, because ... that's what always happens.
And I predicted No 001 was the man behind the games. I mean, sure, I assumed he was killed in the game, so that dampened my suspicions a little, but I predicted it from the first time 001 appears (which is episode 2, I think) so when it happened I was, like, Oh.
Yes, all a bit obvious, but still enjoyable to watch. I mean, obviousness isn't a bad thing, but there was just a lack of surprised, that's all.
Still, it was OK. On to season 2 ...

I've been watching #SquidGame and ...
It's OK. I'm not particularly enthralled by it. I'll watch it to the end, but it's not as good I was led to believe.

This is interesting. Justin Podur accounts for the solidarity between Iranian ex-pats, the US, and Zionists as a matter of racial identity. That is, an #Aryan identity.
#JustinPodur | The academic racists behind Iranian monarchism
"Still, it was jarring to see online that in places like Toronto and Beverly Hills, people celebrated these murders. Even in North America, which is full of diasporas who call for the overthrow of the countries from which they came, seeing - from non-Israelis - celebrations of genocidal bombing is rare, surprising - even baffling."

#JonathanCook | Israel planned this war on Iran for 40 years. Everything else is a smoke screen
"If the idea that an Iranian opposition is poised to sweep to power looks plausible, it is only because western media has been priming their audiences with two likely falsehoods.
First, that the Iranian regime has no mass support. And second, that those out protesting exclusively blame their plight on their own rulers rather than reserving a share of their anger for external actors meddling maliciously in their lives."

Isreal has to pay for its online influencers?

[Reads article]
Isreal *doesn't* pay its online influencers?
😮 I'm shocked I tell you!
"Israel’s global propaganda machine is facing increasing legal pressure after influencers, consultants, and media companies filed lawsuits worth millions of shekels against the government, accusing it of failing to pay for work done in support of its international messaging campaign during Israel’s genocide in Gaza, the Calcalist reported on 5 March."
