@c_a_schiller Hehe, I meant the demo though 😉
BTW, isn't the 1581 supported by #OpenCBM?

@thindil @thomasadam How exactly would that work? I mean, I *did* use #fvwm2 "inside" #KDE a long time ago, but scripted the ~/.xsession for that manually ...
So, if there's some .desktop file for #fvwm3 with "Type=XSession", would e.g. sddm offer me a session "Plasma+FVWM3" or something like that when plasma is installed as well? 🤔

@IPXFong Not sure if that's an option for you, but I very much prefer cross-development these days (actually, I didn't do anything else for many years).
There are several fine opensource cross-assemblers targeting the #C64 (or, more general, the #MOS6502 family). I personally prefer #ca65 which comes with the #cc65 cross-compiler package because it can assemble to object-code and the package contains a linker, IMHO very helpful for larger and more complex projects.

#fvwm3 actually merged my "pull request" to add some .desktop file for the #XSession upstream, a topic that came up in a #FreeBSD #ports PR.
It was very quick, and during review conversations, I even learned that KDE delivers a "broken" .desktop file (by FDO standards) which somehow still works 🙈
Anyways, kudos for handling it that quickly. Any porter/packager is thankful for upstreams *that* responsive! 👍

@rodneylives My first suggestion would be: Don't. Even new #C64 game releases are sold as e.g. disk (D64) or cart (CRT) image downloads. People interested in this kind of stuff nowadays can probably be expected to just install an emulator on their machine 😉
If you still want to do that, I don't know any existing solution, but it's certainly possible and reminds me a bit of what #Cloanto is doing with their #c64forever product. But be careful, VICE is #GPL licensed, so for derived work, sure you can sell it, but you're obliged to make your modified source available publicly and free of cost.

@walkerb Just for completeness, flicker-free graphics on the #C64 aren't achieved *only* by drawing speed. Like on any platform where you update some "framebuffer" that's used live by the gfx chips, even the fastest drawing routing will show flickering when executed at the "wrong" raster beam position.
So, you also have to care about #vsync (or: "race the beam"): only start drawing some area after the raster beam passed it.

@paco To me, the main advantage of operating my own #email system is that I'm free to configure my inbound #MX so that it outright rejects "crap" (containing #malware or hitting a certain #spam score). With abusive mail, there's no way to reject anything once it was accepted, as this would mean #bounces, and therefore #backscatter.
BTW, you can allow your users to do a lot of interesting filtering stuff using #sieve (and manage-sieve). But probably not what you described here. 😞

Little roadblock on the way, I can't install a #poudriere jail of #FreeBSD 13.2-RELEASE #armv7 using ftp ... the required dist files just aren't there on the mirrors 😞
But hey, you can always build yourself from source 😎 so ... waiting again. I expect this to work as well, but we will see.
