So I got a reply to my FOI request.
They are claiming that the DSIT doesn't have any information about the costs of the programme, which, frankly, is suprising.
But if that's true, then I question how well they are able to manage their budget.

I've had an email from Octopus Energy telling me that because of dramatic falls in wholesale electricity prices, they sadly have no choice but to reluctantly reduce the price they are paying me for the electricity I export from my solar panels.
Weirdly, they seem very much to have the choice not to reduce the price of the electricity that they sell to me.
Isn't it funny how that works?

"UK unemployment hits highest rate for nearly five years"
Whoever could have predicted that unemployment might rise after the government increased taxes on job creation?
The high unemployment rate in the 16-24 age group is particularly concerning.

The measles outbreak in North London is looking like quite a big deal.
Remember folks, while most kids in developed countries who get measles will make a full recovery, there is still a substantial minority that can get serious complications. It is not a benign disease.
If you have kids, this would be a good time to check that they are up to date with their vaccinations.
The MMR vaccine provides excellent protection against measles.

Just booked my next foreign rail trip, and I managed to reserve Seat 61 on the Eurostar, which always makes me feel content.

OK, stand down everyone, as you were.
Still very strange though.
My initial thought is cock-up rather than conspiracy, but really, who knows?

I recently(ish) bought 2 things advertised as having 5-year warranties: a Braun shaver and a Vado shower pump.
The shaver failed after 2½ years, the shower pump failed after 5 years and a couple of weeks.
Braun said "sorry, the advert saying 5-year warranty was wrong, it's really only a 2-year warranty, you're on your own".
Vado said "Don't worry, we've recently increased the warranty to 6 years, we'll send an engineer next week".
Won't be buying Braun again.

There's a guy downstairs sanding down my parquet floor who has a logo on his van proudly proclaiming that he's a "Certified Bona Contractor".
I'm sure fans of Polari will find that reassuring.
He seems to be doing a pretty bona job so far, at any rate.
