CW: Technically a complaint
Having to start the car with a jumper battery pack *every time* I get in the car is getting a tad tiresome 🫠 just have to get through my mom's surgery recovery enough to have time to take it to the shop.

New new cinematography video this week while I edit this tight turnaround memorial video while trying to tackle a few other edits, I hope I can get one out next week though.

CW: Death
Holy crap through making this memorial video I found the news of the passing of another young person who I had been friends with in high school (and was mentored by their mom). I had no idea most likely because it was after I 99.9% stopped using fb. They were so nice. Horrifically sad. Guess I should send a belated condolences card. 💔

CW: Death of a Queer person
It was nice that their obituary didn't erase their chosen name or pronoun usage. Really quite guttted. They were like ~4 years younger than me.
-
Well, uh, the current cut of the video seems to be particularly gutting.
Which tbh is kinda the point, if it doesn't have an emotional reaction then youve super not honored the person's spirit in the video -- but also, kinda brutal, and hopefully will be cathartic. Tbh having something to do to support my long ago friend's family in this time has been cathartic for me as well. -
Genuinely you don't know what people are struggling with in life and entering into every interaction with kindness and gentleness goes so far in recognizing peoples' humanity.

Against logic, it seems walmart's dry pasta is nicer than safeway's, but also often cheaper.

The edit went over really well with the family. That is always a bit nerve-wracking because it is so personal. Only a few final touches now. Grateful to have the opportunity to honor his memory.
I spent a lot of time this week thinking about this long ago friend. I wish he'd been dealt a better hand.

Maniac (1980) was really good and intensely disturbing! It nails lot of stuff about serial killers before actual research figured it out too, which sorta adds to the horror.

I got some good progress on an upcoming DIY cinematography tool build. Making a REALLY cheap ($10) version of a tool that is $80-$180 usually!
