I don't know what just broke loose but crossposting to Lemmyverse communities on Piefed.social seems to be working more successfully, for those of you looking to leave r e d d i t (which I am filtering out) behind you. I think I'll start doing more of that. Initially, it didn't much seem to be connecting with people so I set it aside for a while. Still trying to figure it out but will eventually need to make a post that describes how and whatnot more.
