    Geezus.

Current weather conditions overhead are producing cloud-to-ground lightning strikes over the Timber Fire area. For firefighter safety, crews have temporarily disengaged and retreated to safe locations until the storm system passes.

  2. Hard to count all the #wildfires burning right now in Eastern Oregon. Winds from about 200 are pushing the smoke to the northeast.

    Per the #Watchduty app.

  3. I haven't been paying attention to #WatchDuty 's eastward expansion and #flood reporting. IMHO this is good work and much needed, alas. app.watchduty.org/i/108810

  4. #WatchDuty essentially runs on Slack behind the scenes. I'm curious to see if they respond to the owner being a fascist asshole.

Everybody has standards as long as it doesn't cause inconvenience. We'll see what happens.

  5. Having fun dabbling in the CA QSO party today and stopped for a break… “hey is that a dust storm?” #WatchDuty check… “ah… no that’s a fire.” Given that I’m on the other side of a soda lake and well within the borders of a previous fire this year which consumed most of the fuel over here I think I’m OK but something to keep an eye on. I watched one of the tankers drop on the fire about five minutes ago pretty cool actually.

  6. When Fires Rage, Millions Turn to #WatchDuty. Meet the Guy Who Made It

Watch Duty proved indispensable during the recent LA #wildfires. John Mills, the app’s creator, wants it to be the one place to go for #tracking #disasters. He just needs all the data to do it.

  7. WatchDuty app tip...

Be sure to click the Layers icon. There are other options you may not have known about, like links to webcams, wind patterns, etc.

  8. If you have friends or family in the Los Angeles area, like we do, it’s time once again to pay close attention to what’s going on with this latest wildfire this afternoon: the “Hughes Fire.” We’re watching a live stream from KCAL on YouTube, and using the #WatchDuty App to keep up with evacuation zone updates. #WatchDutyApp #CaliforniaWildfire #HughesFire #LAwildfires #LosAngeles
