More #Live360 fun! I had a good turnout for my "Blazor for JavaScript Developers" session, and they asked some good questions, which always makes presenting more enjoyable.

Even when I fix this, however, #GeoBlazor apps are going to be *really slow* to compile until Microsoft fixes this #dotnet #aspnetcore issue https://github.com/dotnet/aspnetcore/issues/59014
-
#dotnet 9 had a breaking change that broke #GeoBlazor. They no longer support multiple constructors in Razor Components without adding an `[ActivatorUtilitiesConstructor]` attribute. I missed this one earlier bc of the issues with static file compilation that made GeoBlazor painfully slow to compile. Hope to have a quick fix out soon. https://github.com/dotnet/aspnetcore/issues/58004

This is the first time I've tried a big thread like this. Hope you enjoyed it! Let me know if you're interested in #GeoBlazor or #arcgis on #dotnet #aspnetcore. I also give presentations on #blazor at tech conferences, and would love to share more of my experiences.

Thread about my work on #GeoBlazor, which brings interactive maps and geospatial data to #blazor.

Won't be doing #adventOfCode this year. I'm in the middle of a huge task of moving #GeoBlazor from a hand-crated wrapper around #ArcGIS to a source-generated wrapper. In the long run, this means a lot more coverage of the API, but getting it right is exhausting. #dotnet #blazor
-
I'm working on updating #GeoBlazor to #dotnet 9, and running into a bunch of issues with the new static asset compression patterns. Since we have a huge JS dependency, my local dev build times are moving from ~15-20 seconds to 100+ seconds. 👀 I see a few similar github issues filed, but not sure exactly what the issue is or how to resolve it.

On my way to Berlin for the #esri EU DevSummit to share #GeoBlazor and talk #GIS and #ArcGIS!

Are you ready to GO PRO?! We’re excited to share that #GeoBlazor Pro, the advanced version of our open-source GeoBlazor library, has moved from Beta to full production! GeoBlazor allows developers to access Esri's #ArcGIS #Maps SDK for JavaScript to add mapping functionality to #dotnet #Blazor apps, and GeoBlazor Pro offers advanced #GIS functionality and exclusive features!
Current and planned features for GeoBlazor Pro! https://docs.geoblazor.com/pages/features.html

Giving my first full length tech presentations at #VSLiveChicago today. Talking about #dotnet #blazor interop with #javascript, and #arcgis and #GeoBlazor. Wish me luck!
-
Ready to start using GeoBlazor? First, you will want to check out this quick geometry lesson from dymaptic CTO Christopher Moravec! Don’t worry – there’s no quiz at the end, but you will get an overview of how points and lines get plotted on your maps. Give it a read and let us know what you think! https://blog.dymaptic.com/how-to-put-points-on-a-map-an-introduction-to-geometry-in-geoblazor?
-
If you're going to do something heavy with data in #dotnet #blazor like plotting thousands of map points with #GeoBlazor, I definitely suggest checking out interactive server mode. I took a map render of 16 seconds down to 3 seconds by switching the app to server side.

Listening to the latest #dotnetRocks podcast, and @richcampbell reads a comment from @gaprogman "G-A, must be from Georgia." 😂 apparently unfamiliar with the #dotnetCore podcast, or at least it's host? Anyways, just found it amusing when worlds collide. @carlfranklin #dotnet

I feel fairly confident writing #css from scratch, but on my latest project, I have to build on top of #materialui and #blazorise, and it feels like I have to use !important for everything! Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Are there any other #tech #blog writers around that contribute to a startup or other corporate blog? I'm extremely happy with my company and love to contribute to OSS and the blog under the #dymaptic brand name, but I'm also interested in doing more with my own personal blog. Trying to find balance.
-
Aha, following #javascript I find a lot more devs on here than #dotnet. Not surprising, and I do enjoy keeping up with JS and #typscript. Gotta use those interop calls for my #blazor apps!
-
@khalidabuhakmeh @range_marten I wonder if the #dotnet team will even use #wasmGC? Seems like there's a lot of tradeoffs good and bad to consider in that article. For example, I can't imagine dotnet allowing anything other than ~99% support for existing language features, and the talk of WasmGC as a VM brings up the concern of unsupported features.

@malwaretech https://help.twitter.com/en/rules-and-policies/social-platforms-policy I couldn't believe it so I went to the url in your photo. It's real. Melon Tusk should be asking himself #whatWouldJohnMastodonDo.

#GeoBlazor V3.0 is so close... I'm just being extra cautious in testing. Found a ton of bugs in testing my breaking changes. You can try it out with
https://www.nuget.org/packages/dymaptic.GeoBlazor.Core/3.0.0-rc.1or try the Pro Beta (also very close to full release) https://www.nuget.org/packages/dymaptic.GeoBlazor.Pro

I did this Q&A for the #VisualStudioLive Chicago conference I'll be presenting at next month, talking about visualizing data with #GIS, #ArcGIS, #Blazor, and #GeoBlazor.

New #GeoBlazor release, lots of new layers and widgets!

#arcgis public feature services have started to throw "invalid token" errors in their JavaScript SDK if you (heaven forbid) actually pass them an ArcGIS token, instead of leaving it blank. Problem is, the token object is global and needed for other things on the site. https://samples.geoblazor.com/time-slider

Got a message from some folks publishing an app with #GeoBlazor to the iOS store. They ran into an issue with AoT limitations, opened a GH Issue and a PR all while I was traveling today. I love it when open source works like that.

HtmlRenderer class in #dotnet 8 will be extremely useful for #blazor libraries like #GeoBlazor.
