  1. Bottomless brunch obviously ended in me not being very drunk but somehow still rolling my ankle down a kerb and having to sit in the street whilst I iced it

  2. update: 16 are completed, one is in progress (shorthand) and 4 are booked for the next few weeks. I'm a bit behind but trying not to be too hard on myself. I've done lots of things for the first time this year, but they haven't all been exciting enough to count!

  3. Me and my 2999 piece might just have a cry in the corner

  4. Do you work in renewal or for a local authority trying to drive recovery? Do you have experience of trying to regenerate high streets that have struggled or brilliant examples of what's gone well?

The committee has launched a public call for evidence for its latest inquiry into High Streets in Towns and Small Cities. Deadline 22 March!

  5. Now, the moment of truth! I have widely advertised to family I'm doing this just in case there were some secrets lurking out there aaaand.... nope nothing. I have linked with a possible first cousin called Daniel who (from the photo) looks suspiciously like... my cousin Daniel. More excitingly, the genes don't lie and it looks like the long suspected upstairs/downstairs situation was in fact true!

  6. And, in true Who Do You Think You Are style my Grandfather once told me he'd "heard a story about jewish ancestors from Europe at some point" which I presumed to be untrue but there is 1% Jewish in there... which isn't very much but does hint at something!

  7. You may remember I'm doing 30 new things before I turn 30. Number 3 is here! I have taken an Ancestry DNA kit and the results are in... We've done lots of genealogy stuff in the past so I'm not sure if this is entirely new, but the DNA bit definitely is.

Like all families we have some mysteries. For us it's whether the son of the family up in the big house knocked up the scullery maid. Maybe this will help to answers some of those questions and either way it will be fun!

  8. We don't have a table big enough for the puzzle. All surfaces are now

  9. I may not have finished Thing 1 yet (Bleak House is long...) but Thing 2 has commenced! Originally this was just a 'really big ' so I've settled on a 3000 piece one as the numbers chime well. Hopefully it will also fit on our rolling puzzle mat...

  10. My project has begun. I had to stay up late last night for a report publication so I started Bleak House by Charles Dickens. I've not read any of his books before and I can't say that the first chapter did wonders at keeping me awake... But we'll see what happens.

  11. I'll be documenting this here and on the bird site to varying degrees. I may occasionally use the hashtag just because I find it somewhat entertaining, but of course I'll also be at

If you want to read about the original it's available as both a blog (debs60things.wordpress.com) and book (amazon.co.uk/Year-Adventures-s)
