  1. Longing to get back to North Wales. This is a view from last September, looking up the Mawddach estuary from Ffridd Gorllwyn (on 'the Panorama Walk') towards the distant Aranau on the right. Y Rhinogydd rise on the left, Diffwys a shapely cone from this angle.

  3. A lovely afternoon stroll up to Cerrig Arthur stone circle, after yesterday's Aran ridge epic.

The circle is in the foothills of Y Rhinogydd, and has great views of Diffwys and Y Garn, the southernmost peaks in the range. It also looks south across the beautiful Mawddach estuary towards the soaring buttresses of Cader Idris. It stands beside an important route up to one of the bwlchs (passes) over the Rhinogydd ridge into Ardudwy.

  7. Extensive views from Craig y Castell, a prominent #Marilyn hill between #CadairIdris and the #Mawddach.

Looking north towards #YRhinogydd, NE to #Arenig, east to #YArannau, and the southern view is blocked by the massive cliffs of Cadair Idris itself. Some fine #BronzeAge cairns on the saddle below.

  8. Is #HillfortsWednesday as thing here?

Here's Foel Faner, a stone-ramparted #hillfort above #Dolgellau in North Wales. Terrific views of the mountains (#YRhinogydd, #CadairIdris, #Dyfi Hills, #Arannau) from a commanding position. The rampart is well-preserved.
