A tough one. I love long-arc stories with lots of character development, but not all long-run series are like that. Many are just repetitive.
#HeikeMonogatari should have had 50+ episodes. It's a sprawling epic. I wish #yokohamakaidasikikou had more than 4.
A lot of series don't need more than 12 episodes to tell a complete story.
I think of the single cour as a proving ground- give it a satisfying ending, but leave room to continue the story. Don't just end on a cliffhanger: #WitchFromMercury
#AscendenceOfBookworm is an example- Myne has a chance for survival in the temple, but there's a lot more story to tell.

@bookstodon I finally got my copy of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou vol one from Seven Seas. I've waited for this over ten years, so I know what I'll be doing this weekend. I just wish it had gotten the full hardcover treatment.

Let's try the #manga #introductions thing I've seen. In no particular order;

#YokohamaKaidasiKikou
#Yotsuba&!
#Planetes
#SpyXFamily
#TheWalkingMan

On another day, the list might look a little different, but not much.
