Г being a hard K is reflected in گ being a modified ک in #فارسی #Farsi and #اردو #Urdu - i.e. the G is a modified #عربي #Arabic K

but for - "g" is often pronounced a bit softer in English - do you mean American English or all English (UK, Australia, India, etc.)?
