Another petition here - stop the government & UK public bodies using #xdotcom as a public service broadcasting platform. There is no good reason why they shouldn't use #Mastodon or #Bluesky instead. They could even host their own servers and federate to keep public control of public announcement data

I logged out of #Xdotcom a while ago for obvious reasons & I feel like I get as much scrolling microblogging as I need here on #Mastodon plus I am happy that this place cannot be bought & sold

One insanely obvious point from this #crowdstrike thing is the single-point-of-failure reliance governments & corporations have on #xdotcom to communicate with people. In the interests of resilience they should surely be using #fediverse or something in case that one web app goes away
