Another petition here - stop the government & UK public bodies using #xdotcom as a public service broadcasting platform. There is no good reason why they shouldn't use #Mastodon or #Bluesky instead. They could even host their own servers and federate to keep public control of public announcement data

Yes, I am prioritising enthusiasm for commercial ventures that ditch or minimise use of #Xdotcom as that gives me a stronger steer on their actual values than anything else

Got an email from #GitNation about a big #ReactJS event. Weirdly they're still leading with a push to "tweet" about it on #Xdotcom
Despite boasting about being setup by #OSS enthusiasts there are no links to #Bluesky let alone #Mastodon on their site or their marketing emails. Pretty disappointing https://gitnation.org/

Happy to read that #Bluesky is attracting #TwitterRefugees but slightly worried that a critical mass might develop over there and I'll feel pressured to join in. I logged out of #Xdotcom a while ago for obvious reasons & I feel like I get as much scrolling microblogging as I need here on #Mastodon plus I am happy that this place cannot be bought & sold

One insanely obvious point from this #crowdstrike thing is the single-point-of-failure reliance governments & corporations have on #xdotcom to communicate with people. In the interests of resilience they should surely be using #fediverse or something in case that one web app goes away

Yes, X is a much worse name if the point is to make your company discover-able/describable. But Twitter's facing a ton of lawsuits and debt collections, so maybe Elon's just hoping to encourage some clerical errors.
