#Gentoo #Linux Begins Offering #x86-64-v3 Binary Packages
Gentoo is joining the likes of Serpent OS, RHEL 10, Ubuntu and other Linux distributions that are optionally providing #x86_64_v3 packages or currently exploring the possibilities of doing so or even raising their #x86_64 baseline in the future.

#RedHat Evaluating x86-64-v3 Requirement For #RHEL10
#RHEL 9 requires #x86_64_v2 while for Red Hat #EnterpriseLinux 10 they are looking at upping things to #x86_64_v3 that would basically mandate #Intel and #AMD #CPU with #AVX/#AVX2 support. This roughly translates to Haswell era processors or AMD Excavator era CPUs and newer. Plus x86-64-v3 also mandates FMA, VEX encoding, and others that can potentially help with performance when able to unconditionally target x86-64-v3

#Benchmarking The Experimental #Ubuntu #x86_64_v3 Build For Greater Performance On Modern #CPU
With x86-64-v3 basically being #Intel #Haswell and #AMD Excavator or newer (with some exceptions like select Atoms), it would be really interesting too if #Canonical would consider an x86-64-v4 option for modern systems with #AVX512 support. It'd be really interesting to see at least an experimental Ubuntu x86-64-v4 build to see what that could mean for #servers and #HPC
