This week I'm cheating a little and sharing a whole album. JoMo Slavumas features two groups of musicians: one rock and roll band and one Eastern European folk group. The overall effect is supposed to give the idea of an alternate history where rock and roll developed in Eastern Europe out of their traditional music. I'm not sure how well the effect actually works, but it's a good album all the same!

@Foritus @dusepo you'll probably enjoy this if you don't know it already!

  5. Loving the theme of this weeks #TuneTuesday , have been amazed by a variety of songs and videos 😃

    I'm going to join @lpl and @Kitty and share something #Nordic .

#WhatWasThat spoiler alert: it's hurdy gurdies. Plural.
In 2005 two band members from #Garmarna and #Hedningarna released the album 'Prototyp' which consists of music made with solely hurdy gurdies. Albeit sampled for the percussion and soundscapes.

  6. So "What Was That" is the theme for Tune Tuesday and how can I not go with a song from Shpongle? This song starts out kinda chill with flute and concertina and then midway through it switches into a high energy salsa dance party with Indian (I think) singing, because why not?

  7. What @Kitty said, was:

"For the love of all things unusual, a #TuneTuesday theme that celebrates a musical break from the norm.

#WhatWasThat by @EisenTukan invites you to share a song that contains an unusual instrument, vocal or clash of genres 🎶

Thank you for joining in ☺️"

If there's 1 band, who likes to play unusual instruments, then it's #DeadCanDance probably.

The percussive instrument being played by #LisaGerrard is the #yangqin, a Chinese hammered dulcimer.🌠

  14. Happy #TuneTuesday! This week's theme is #WhatWasThat.

So, I was thinking about Kpop songs that include unusual instruments or have big switches in form or style, but then I remembered this art-piece from SK label Beautiful Noise.

It includes music from my beloved Sion, along with Zior Park, Wonstein, Kim Seungmin, Chanju and Mommyson, and it's a whole, strange adventure. Let's not phase out sleep, ok, humans!
