  1. Just delivered my first of two talks at #ipc2026 & #webinale about refactoring robots - tools to automate legacy code refactoring with generative AI.

At the end we ran a demo but it was a bit slow so not everyone got to see the results - but those who waited a few minutes saw that interestingly Kimi beat Claude by 2 minutes. You can see the branches here and I might spin up the robot to do more through the rest of the day so check back: github.com/M1ke/refactor-realw

  2. Oh, da freue ich mich schon sehr drauf nach der Mittagspause: Enhancing the Fediverse through ActivityPub (von @derickr Derick Rethans)

  7. Great visualisation for the efficiency of cursor based pagination from @jessicamauerhan at #ipc #webinale. Did you know that limit-offset pagination has to scan the whole database to figure out what comes next?

That's a long time if you're on the last page of thousands of results. But it doesn't have to be that way - investigate adding cursors to your data sets. With appropriate indices, the time required is constant.

  9. The life of a maintainer (and generally any back-end engineer) - if your existence is acknowledged, something's probably gone wrong! I feel you, @jrf_nl
