Ulrich Heininger, Senior Physician and Head of the Department of Paediatric Infectiology and Vaccinology at the University Children's Hospital #Basel (#UKBB), explained this week that the high rate of whooping cough in infants comes from wearing a mask on public transport if you are over the age of 14 in winter 2020/2021 (unless you eat something, or if their is enough distance possible).
Yeah it’s just absurd 🤷♂️🤦♂️

Question for folks working in the UK Biobank -- Is there a variable that just indicates whether a participant ever tested positive for #COVID19?

One of the big issues with identifying acquired mutations in #biobank blood samples is figuring out if the alterations are true or a sequencing artifact. In this recent preprint, the authors detail a method for calling somatic #CHIP mutations in the UK Biobank (#UKBB) and #AllofUs that uses known mutation:pathology associations to assist in variant curation. #science #medicine https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2022.10.21.22281368v1
