New Texas.gov site locks you out for 24 hours if you unsuccessfully renew plate registration. They mean it. Started renewal process. Got to payment screen, entered payment info, clicked submit button, but screen redrew & didn't say anything was successful or an error. Just redrew form with blank fields. Went to check my credit card as I did not want to have a double-charge. Logged back in, & nope, cannot register until tomorrow afternoon. Moral: don't wait until the last minute. #Texas #TXDMV

I just renewed my Texas driver license over the phone with an automated system, because I absolutely am not creating a "TxT" account with the DMV's 3rd party provider. I won't install an app or give them extra facts like my email address. They can access my registration, car ownership, and driving record; that private entity doesn't need anything else from me, thank you.
And for the privilege, I paid $33.
