  1. #WritersCoffeeClub day 29: Talk about an experience you've had with plagiarism.

I always cite my sources (my books have a massive bibliography), and I release my translations under a #CreativeCommons Zero licence, so there has been no cause for plagiarism in my recent work.

That being said, I did learn that #Meta used some very old snippets I wrote for "Teralogos News" - that is, in-setting news for the #GURPS #TranshumanSpace line - to train their #AI , which counts.

If you want to check if your own work was used to train Meta's AI without permission, and want to know how to check the class action lawsuit, check this post by @Richard_Littler :

  2. #GURPS #TranshumanSpace #TTRPG Bundle available:

THS is a really neat hard-ish #SF setting (it gets harder if you call the start date 2200). What's extra "fun" about 1999 morally ambivalent #SF with a dark edge is that by today's real world standards it seems almost terminally optimistic.

Also: This is David L. Pulver's baby - enough said.

  3. @SJohnRoss @vkfarfalle

    Interesting lineups.

I especially like the mention of International Super Teams. One of the neatest ways to keep mid- and high-power supers from not breaking the setting. The Soviet Union is such a useful actor...

    Mine would be:

    #TranshumanSpace
    #Kahal / #SocietyOfRafa
    #SidMeiersAlphaCentauri
    #StarTrekDS9
    #TheDarkEye

  8. #TranshumanSpace was one of the few times Steve Jackson Games attempted to support an entire line focusing on an original #ttrpg setting for #GURPS , and it's still far away my favorite. And while it has its dark sides, it is also one of the more optimistic near-future settings out there - it portrays humanity largely being able to tackle their own problems.

Alas, I fear we are currently heading for a darker timeline. Still, it would be interesting to revisit this setting, and compare and contrast where we stand now vs. what the setting portrayed where we are going.

  9. @auguryignored Close call between #GURPS #TranshumanSpace First Contact and GURPS #Technomancer Into the Infinite Worlds.

There might be another couple of nifty things, I'd like to write for, but I am only qualified for GURPS rules. Those two are not the most likely ones I'd actually write IRL, though. Something on South-German history is more likely and fanworks are actually on their way.
