This national service idea is joyously incoherent. We will drag kids from behind their computer screens by recruiting a few thousands for, er, cyber (what do they think that means?) or logistics (viz working with spreadsheets). Others have to volunteer at weekends for, erm, arm-wave, . It is mandatory but won't be enforced.
It's a rehashed version of Cameron's venture in the same direction, which the Tories defunded in 2022.

So the Tories are now going for policies that even Thatcher didn't try, despite the fantasies of local members back in the 1980s. Bringing back hanging is surely next.

Maybe I was unclear - the #labour lead now remains higher than at any point from well before the 2019 (when the corbyn factor applied) all the way thru till #truss screwed up. "Sunak bounce" is not really a bounce - it is reversion to sanity after a period of #toryMadness and as such a resumption after an incident; that labour still doing better suggests that their policy shifts have not damaged support in terms of numbers of general public - tho undoubtedly it has upset the left
