  1. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this chill Rhodes groove from Kait Dunton, along with Jake Reed, of mild YouTube notoriety as the supreme master of dead drums.

  5. JAZZ-FUNK/FUSION. #DanielBechet – Songs to My Father (1979). Jazz-funk/fusion album by French percussionist Daniel Bechet, son of #SidneyBechet.

Listen to this cosmic nugget, with bass clarinet, flute, Rhodes, chorused bass, and a wonderfully time-specific synth string ensemble.

  6. FLEX-A-TONE. I keep a list of #flexatone (flex-a-tone) tracks. It's a fun metallic percussion instrument.

All of them are from the '70s – this is the only one from the '80s so far, and it only makes a guest appearance from the 2:15 mark. I loved when incidental soundtrack music sounded like this. We need a young #MikePost!

  7. JAZZ-POP. Lovely, lovely, goosebump-inducing chord progressions, warm analog synths, Rhodes, a #FretlessBass solo, Sidsel Endresen on vocals. What more can the heart of a sentimental man desire?
