A Stór (Irish for "my treasure") is a piece for marimba, piano, and fretless bass. It’s inspired by Piazzolla and dedicated to Tiziana.
The bass I used here is a 1960s Höfner 182 that I’ve had since the 90s. A friend removed its frets and painted it black, and I recently updated the pickups. Do you like its sound? ^_^

I hear people are even more fake on the Internet than than are IRL. You won't find that here. I'm not going to pretend that my gear is always neat. It's not. This is what things really look like.
Sometimes, I want to try something out & have to reroute power & patch cables. Then it just stays like that for a while and the pedals are not lined up all pretty anymore. lol

Decided to tune my #Ibanez SRD905F #electricBass to drop C with a low G on the bottom. Wanted to brighten up one note in a riff. lol at trying to play chords on a #fretlessBass.
#DAddario #tapewounds and stock #flatwounds strings. This tuning does work fine. I'd prefer all the strings to be a bit thicker.
If I were to keep it like this, I'd get the bottom four of a 5-string set or heavier flatwound singles. The low G is fine as tapewound but, I'm also using a nasty fuzz pedal. 😈

I was able to get my #fretlessbass with .135g tapewound flatwounds down to low F#.
If I keep my #basses at the sub #contrabass level and use a #cello #guitar for anything higher, wouldn't the cello then really be the #doublebass? 😜
P.S. the trick is to hit the string hard near the bridge and use a little fuzz. (Also using a little chorus, reverb, minimal delay (time:10, fb:10, mix:20) plenty of EQ). It sounds just fine.
Only 3 strings on this half of the bass.
The other 4 on the neck are fretted, lol. Currently tuned C1, G1, C2, F2. Maybe both sections will shift to have low G on the bottom! -
It's not really silent for #SilentSunday, but this is a meditative piece for fretless bass guitar I wrote back in '15 or so. The ambient noise is all from noise oscillators and a sample I created from flipping the pages of a book passed through heavy delay and convolution reverb.
