"Mississippi" is a medium-tempo #country-#rock song by the American singer-songwriter #BobDylan that appears as the second track on his 2001 album #LoveAndTheft. The song was originally recorded during the #TimeOutOfMind sessions (demo sessions in Fall 1996; official album sessions in January 1997), but was ultimately left off the album. Dylan rerecorded the song for Love and Theft in May 2001. Described as having beauty and gravitas.

Friday evening, beginning of the weekend, & I’m #NowListening to the 2022 remix of #TimeOutOfMind by #BobDylan as included in #Fragments.
I’ve had this on hard rotation for the last few weeks & listened to it alongside the original mix. Each have their own character, but - imo - the remix wins out. It’s clean, it’s intimate, & Dylan’s voice is where it should be: front and centre.

I’ve many thoughts regarding the set (mostly positive), but the remix is, for me, a highlight. I don’t see this as replacing the OG, but it does reveal elements otherwise hidden under the #Lanois treatment. This #RyanKSmith cut is spacious, rich & dynamic.

#NowListening to #TimeOutOfMind by #BobDylan. I’m reacquainting myself with this ‘90s masterpiece while I wait for FedEx to deliver the 10 LP Deluxe edition of Fragments from the Bootleg Series.
I’m halfway through the album & there is so much good stuff here. I know that Dylan was never really satisfied with the Lanois treatment on this album, but I do think it works. It overlays swampy apocalyptic mood over the dark themes of Dylan’s writing.
