The Fediverse is just that little bit cumbersome. Sure, I can, as a member of a Mastodon instance, follow folks in Pixelfed or Peertube or the other federated options to social media giants, but to picture-share, or make videos, I’d have to make my own memberships on those platforms (or have installations of each on my own server).

What would rock is a one-Federated-presence that can do all of it.

I hope the local arts supplies shop has a good offer on water colour paints soon... I'm starting to run low on quite some colours, specifically the yellows and blues...
Last year's offer of the tin carry case along with the half-pans for 99 NOK was quite good, and it would be a decent solution to get some more half-pans as well as paints I'm familiar with, but half of the paints are still quite full. Aside from that, I want a different hue of red... Not too fond of the alizarin crimson and permanent rose.

(ah! of course! The Popup widget's content can be anything, not just an Image/AsyncImage, so I can just feed it another widget that contains both the AsyncImage as well as a Label in a ScrollView for the description!)

@neildarlow that sounds like sound advice. Not many platforms get a reboot to "do it better". I believe it would be beneficial to the platform and its adoption and longevity to "get it right from the beginning". Phrasing suggests it's the platform's task, but what I really mean is, the community needs guidelines and principles to stop toxicity in its roots (I'm a hopeless idealist). Federation is the first tool, absolute local authority over what is permitted and what is not.
