My favorites here are "Oliver's Army" and of course "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding" (forgiving the lack of an Oxford comma). Produced by Nick Lowe, who famously wrote the latter. My copy—via Vinyl Vault in Littleton MA—is a Pitman pressing from 1979 with (as expected) the US cover. 4. "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding" is a 1974 song written by English singer/songwriter #NickLowe. Initially released by Lowe with his band Brinsley Schwarz on their 1974 album #TheNewFavouritesOfBrinsleySchwarz, the song was released as a single and did not chart. The song was most famously covered by #ElvisCostello and #theAttractions, who recorded a version of the song that was released as a B-side to Lowe's 1978 solo single "American Squirm".

  6. 40 years ago this week, "Everyday I Write The Book" by #ElvisCostello And #TheAttractions entered the #Top40 at 38. It peaked at 36 on 22 Oct 1983. I remember him typing with boxing gloves, but not Charles & Diana. youtube.com/watch?v=V1d4r9awjK #1980s #musichistory #musicvideo

  7. Happy 40th to a solid entry in the long history of Costello albums. Not one I put on all the time compared to others of his albums but only because there's just so much to choose from. And look at that smulder on the cover.
