A Rockstar Games, subsidiária da Take-Two Interactive, anunciou nesta quinta-feira (6) um novo adiamento de “Grand Theft Auto VI” (GTA 6), o jogo mais esperado da atual geração. O lançamento, que estava previsto para 26 de maio de 2026, agora está marcado para 19 de novembro de 2026, um atraso de seis meses em relação à data anterior.

O anúncio foi feito junto à divulgação dos resultados financeiros da Take-Two para o trimestre encerrado em setembro. Em carta aos acionistas, o CEO Strauss Zelnick reafirmou a confiança na equipe da Rockstar, embora não tenha detalhado os motivos do adiamento.

“Continuamos entusiasmados e confiantes de que eles proporcionarão uma experiência de entretenimento de sucesso incomparável”, afirmou Zelnick.

Em comunicado publicado nas redes sociais, a Rockstar Games pediu desculpas aos fãs pela nova mudança de data:

“Pedimos desculpas por adicionar mais tempo ao que sabemos que já foi uma longa espera, mas esses meses extras nos permitirão finalizar o jogo com o nível de qualidade que vocês esperam e merecem”, disse o estúdio. “Embora a espera seja um pouco mais longa, estamos extremamente animados para que os jogadores possam explorar o vasto estado de Leonida e retornar à Vice City dos dias atuais.”

Esse é o segundo adiamento oficial do projeto. Originalmente previsto para o outono de 2025, GTA 6 já havia sido postergado uma vez, em maio deste ano, quando a Rockstar afirmou precisar de “mais tempo para entregar o nível de qualidade que os fãs merecem”.

Durante entrevista à Variety, Zelnick reforçou que a decisão visa garantir a excelência do produto:

“Estamos buscando lançar o título mais extraordinário que alguém já viu na história do entretenimento. A Rockstar acredita que um tempo adicional limitado é necessário para atingir essa meta.”

A Take-Two também negou que o adiamento esteja relacionado às recentes demissões de cerca de 40 funcionários da Rockstar Games no Reino Unido. Segundo a empresa, os desligamentos ocorreram por “violação de políticas internas” e não têm ligação com o direito de sindicalização, após um sindicato britânico acusar a medida de ser “anti-sindical”.

“Esses dois assuntos são completamente distintos”, declarou um porta-voz da Take-Two.

Apesar do atraso, a Take-Two reportou receita de US$ 1,77 bilhão no trimestre, superando as estimativas de Wall Street. O prejuízo líquido foi de US$ 133,9 milhões, enquanto as reservas líquidas atingiram US$ 1,96 bilhão.

Zelnick afirmou que o adiamento de GTA 6 não altera a visão de longo prazo da empresa. “Com a carteira de projetos mais robusta da história da nossa companhia, esperamos atingir níveis recordes de reservas líquidas no ano fiscal de 2027”, disse o executivo.

Em desenvolvimento há mais de seis anos, Grand Theft Auto VI promete retornar à icônica Vice City, inspirada em Miami, com um mapa expandido e dois protagonistas jogáveis. O primeiro trailer do jogo, lançado em dezembro de 2023, quebrou recordes com mais de 475 milhões de visualizações em todas as plataformas.

Mesmo com o novo atraso, a expectativa em torno do título permanece altíssima. Desde o sucesso estrondoso de Grand Theft Auto V, lançado em 2013 e ainda ativo com GTA Online, o novo capítulo da franquia é visto como o próximo grande evento da indústria dos videogames.

“Estamos extremamente animados para que os jogadores experimentem o vasto estado de Leonida e retornem à Vice City dos dias atuais”, reforçou a Rockstar.

Se cumprir o novo cronograma, Grand Theft Auto VI chegará 13 anos após o lançamento de seu antecessor, e tudo indica que essa longa espera será compensada por um dos lançamentos mais ambiciosos da história do entretenimento digital.

I firmly believe that #Borderlands4 is going to be the guinea pig for Take Two to see how the market reacts to $80.
