    Although #Scotland has done really well in keeping down the #murder rate in #cities and large towns, they might still have issues in #rural areas - this whole case is like a real life episode of #Taggart [1]

    Reminded of a talk I gave 10 years ago today to Economic and Social #History Society of #Scotland #conference. As I wrote then: "My talk on 17th century #Melrose area court records went well. I said two things I didn’t plan to say: “#CSI Melrose”, and “Murrrdddeerr” a la #Taggart! I do improvise a lot in conference talks, never quite sure what I will say!"     BTW Brian Connolly, the lead singer of The Sweet, was the half-brother of Mark McManus, the original star of the TV detective series Taggart. They were both from Glasgow.
