For Plasma (Wayland) on FreeBSD to work in VirtualBox, is sysfb a missing piece of the jigsaw?

I assume that Oracle's Guest Additions are not required, because (if I recall correctly) I did have Plasma (Wayland) on a Kubuntu guest without the additions.
