Today's grandma recording contained the story of Wilhelm Hercher https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Hercher-27 and Otto Rombach https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Rombach-150, who did long bike tours (without gearings!) over Switzerland's mountain passes before World War II. It also brought me back to the 90s, when grandma and me visited #Sustenpass. What a pity, that it really sucked, because she wouldn't let me listen to my new diskman all the time. Also the restaurant apparently put wine in the sauce of my Käsespätzle, eew! #genealogy

This super cute guy (pic 1) greeted us in the early morning when we started pedaling. What a beautiful day to climb the #Sustenpass!
Until 9 o'clock it was quite calm on the street. After then the traffic started. Motorcycles and all kind of cars rode with max speed uphill to the pass. The stupid thing from our side was the timing. On weekend its logicaly very busy... But look these mountains!

Went on a bike ride for the first time this season and it did not disappoint (fitness level is indeed exactly as bad as I expected 😜).
Will be some time until I feel like I can ride mountain passes again.
Here's a picture from a ride from back in 2016. Viewpoint is the top of the Furkapass (2'429m / 7'969ft) looking to the Grimselpass (2'164m / 7'100ft) on the other side. Classic ride is to also include the Sustenpass (2'260m / 7'415ft), so you get a loop of around 120 km / 75 miles with 3'400m / 11'100ft of elevation.
