  1. @iamthelibrary Welcome to the city!!! :sunbeam: :autism: :greensun: :flow:

Since you're interested in collecting resources, you should try contributing to the #SunbeamWiki: wiki.sunbeam.city

And lmk if you ever need help with turning beliefs into action! I know a few useful tactics, and I help people find groups in their area all the time

  2. @charlag @polymerwitch Could someone who reads this lmk whether it's actually punk, or just a bunch of liberal reformist wishful thinking? i.e. whether consumption has been scaled back or whether they think solar panels will solve everyone's problems while allowing us to keep the same way of life, whether people still work for bosses, whether production is still centralized, etc

Both because I might read it, and I want to know whether it belongs on #SunbeamWiki #solarpunk page

  3. The first #SolarpunkActionWeek is over, but that doesn't mean you have to stop working for a better world! To keep the momentum going, always remember the 3 O's of successful activism: Organize, Organize, and Organize. Here are some things you can do now:

If you have a boss, you need a labor union. If you have a landlord, you need a tenant's union. And if you have debt, guess what, you need a debtor's union (debtcollective.org). #SunbeamWiki has a whole page on how to unionize, as well as a list of groups to contact for help: wiki.sunbeam.city/doku.php?id=

Visit your closest #FoodNotBombs meal. Ask how you can help and what other local groups need help. They'll be happy to have you!

The #EarthStrike is looking for organizers and agitators across the world. Email the national committee for your area if you want to help earth-strike.com/ :earthstrike:

And check out this page for other groups you can join: wiki.sunbeam.city/doku.php?id=

See you all in ~6 months! :greensun:

  4. First off, a reminder that you don't have to be a member of the Sunbeam City coop or even our Mastodon instance to edit the #SunbeamWiki! Anybody who wants to contribute is welcome to :sunbeam:

That said, if you're not sure where to start, here are some pages/sections in need of some love:
    • The food/farming page needs resources on goats, veganism, cooking, and food preservation wiki.sunbeam.city/doku.php?id=
    • The technology page needs resources on radio, and can always use more cool software (dat, for instance, isn't represented) wiki.sunbeam.city/doku.php?id=
    • The energy page currently has no resources on sustainable or DIY energy storage wiki.sunbeam.city/doku.php?id=
    • If you have a link you think is helpful but don't know where to put it/are too nervous to mess with the formatting, you can drop it on our link dumping ground page wiki.sunbeam.city/doku.php?id=

:boost_ok: Please boost! Let's make our wiki the most comprehensive #solarpunk resource on the web :greensun:

  5. Made some big changes to the Food & Farming page on the #SunbeamWiki! I added a section on keeping animals (bees, chickens, and goats atm, but the goat section is empty), but also added a subsection to that on #veganism to keep the wiki unbiased (it's currently empty because I'm not a #vegan, I'll leave that up to others)

I also started a Preparation and Preservation section and populated it a little. More resources in that area are very welcome, though try not to make the page 20,000 words long with all your favorite soup recipes. Keep it to more general techniques

Please check it out and help me expand it!
