  11. Thanks to @parismarx moving Disconnect to Ghost in the #SubstackMigration I am now a paying subscriber. I've been an unpaid subscriber for a year but couldn't justify sending skim to #Substack . Hopefully more of my creators leave so I pay them as well.

  12. Thanks to @caseynewton and Platformer moving to Ghost in the #SubstackMigration I have now become a paying subscriber. Casey shared this link to get a 20% off annual subscription for new subscribers. #Substack #Ghost

Those moving off of Substack will likely lose subscribers. For many this is their livelihood. Their principle and courage should be rewarded. Known Substack migrants are listed below. Please consider subscribing to them.

If you've migrated off Substack, please provide the name, new URL, and a brief description in a reply. Will add mentions into the top comments.

To the Substack migrants, you rock! Thank you for your bravery and resolve.

  14. @molly0xfff

Shared here and on LinkedIn. I admit to skimming the technical details. 🙂

Also, I had to do a Google Image search to figure out what the preview image had to do with the article:

    commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fil

ETA: Most of the #Substack tagged posts I can see here are about #SubstackMigration, while most posts with that tag on LinkedIn are from people (still) hosting on that platform. Not surprising

  15. If you want all the gory details on how I migrated my Citation Needed newsletter from #Substack to self-hosted #ghost here they are:

Happy to try to help anyone else making this move!

  16. Migration complete. Now (and hopefully for a long time) self-hosted.

I'm such small-fry, I think my host will be just fine.

Twitter's moderators bent over backward to protect fascists, but #birdchan didn't start paying 10k to rapists and other scum until well after #Substack started paying six figures to bigoted trolls banned from pretty much everywhere else. Their business model hasn't just been ignoring "controversial" fashy material; it's been seeking it out and promoting it with funds from everybody else.

  18. Step 1 to moving off of Substack is complete. I've imported/manually moved all my posts from the old Blogger and Substack to a self-hosted Wordpress.

As soon as I figure out my podcast options, I'm deleting my Substack and linking to my self-hosted options.

I won't delete the Blogger, simply because I want to avoid linkrot, but I'll make it clear it's not updated anymore.

  19. The #SubstackMigration and debate around their policies is all based on the fact that Substack itself has an identity and a brand presence. Perhaps that will be their downfall?

No one is discussing if Wordpress or Ghost are used by Nazi bloggers, because they are for the most part white labelled and often self-hosted platforms.

Substack is trying to have their cake and eat it – be a brand, and be neutral. You can’t do both.
