  1. LOL $99 per MONTH if you want "Lane keeping"

I've used this feature on a couple (non Tesla) rentals and it's nice. So of course they remove it and make it a subscription.

This why we can't have 'nice' things.

  2. The way we label transactions these days matters more than ever. When a platform sells something and calls it “buy,” you assume you own it. But the lawsuit against Prime Video says users were handed a license instead. And California’s new rule backs that up. 🤬

🧠 “Buy” flagged as misleading when users don’t get true ownership
🔐 The lawsuit claims disclosures are hidden, not “clear and conspicuous”
⚠️ If you build or lead a product, audit how you label “purchase,” “access,” and “license”
🛡️ Clarity in UX = less legal risk = better trust

  3. A few years ago I looked into canceling my #FrameMaker subscription about half way through the year. When I saw that 50% fee, I decided to keep the remaining time. But then canceled when the term was up, and have never subscribed again.

If #Adobe offered an easy-on, easy-off monthly option, I would likely still be a reasonably satisfied user. But instead I recommend my clients to bail, or roll back to an older, pre-subscription version.

  4. I'm now hearing via @rtw and other folks that Microsoft is going to be pushing for subscription-based models for all their stuff (including things like my version of Windows/Office 10 that I paid for and have been paid off for 5+ years).

Microsoft is gonna get pushback on this if they're rolling it out everywhere. Some people will pay, sure. But many will find open source options (easily) like I have before and now will even more.

    Way to alienate "customers", Microsoft.
