I was told that the #SubaruBRZ was slow, and then I drove a #SubaruOutback, after which I now find the former much quicker.

I should probably say **why** I have a #Leatherman on my belt.
A couple of years ago, on vacation with a big group of (techy) friends, one of them — Scotty -- was working on something or other and needed a tool. So he asked: “Does anyone have a (whatever thing he wanted)?”. I always carry a Leatherman in my bag, so I said “Yeah. I've got a multitool in my bag, upstairs.”. To which he replied “Then you don't have one.”
It’s one of those things that probably **shouldn’t**, but does have a big impact on you.
So when I got a belt that could hold a Leatherman, Scotty’s words were still with me.
I probably wouldn't have bothered posting this, but my friend @jammcq really wanted me to. This Leatherman situation was the “lightweight" version. When I was still a teenager my father asked me to move his car out of the driveway. So I went out and popped myself down into the driver's seat and … it was a stick. After about ten minutes he came out, looked at me with a face that just dripped with disappointment and said “You don’t know how to drive stick, do you.”. It wasn't a question. It was an accusation. My father died many many years ago now, but pretty much every car I've had from then until this automatic #SubaruOutback I just got has been stick. When I described why I always choose stick to my wife, I called it a “mental illness”. I kinda think it was. I don't want to lessen the importance of anything else with that name, just to express how powerful an effect his words had on me.

#SubaruOutback best option: cargo net (and it has a hidden extra piece that goes backwards and covers the whole cargo area)
Worst option: wireless phone charger. Slow and hot. You’re better off using a wire, by far.

After years of work-from-home, for the past eight or so months I’ve been commuting three days a week. In stop and go traffic on the way home sometimes. I got myself a #SubaruOutback. I had three must-haves: adaptive cruise control that slows all the way down to zero and starts back up again; wireless Apple CarPlay; and it has to take regular gas. The one I ended up with has a bunch of stuff that was nice outside that list. It’s an annoying color: white. I’m really falling in love with this car!

Which turbo gasket was leaking? If you guessed "both of them", congratulations!
The good news is that I was able to get the gaskets out without removing the turbo itself. That's always messy, because it has an oil and coolant feed and return line (four lines total, filled with antifreeze and engine oil). New gaskets should be here tomorrow, and hopefully reassembly will be easy.
Always replace *all* of your gaskets!

Pictures of my current vehicular project/nightmare: my '05 Subaru Outback XT with 150k miles. Turbocharger went out, so I decided to replace it myself while also upgrading the oil delivery and upgrading the up pipe (both common failure points). Initially the replacement worked fine, but after less than 50 miles I started to smell exhaust and wasn't building boost. This points to a failed or improperly seated gasket between the turbo, up pipe, and exhaust. So now I'm pulling it completely apart again to replace gaskets!
This is the perfect mountain car (high ground clearance, cargo capacity, boosted for elevation, AWD, reasonable fuel economy) so I'd prefer to keep it until a viable EV alternative is available. That said, between the clutch two hundred miles ago and the turbocharger, I'm out over $2500 in just a couple months. This is the only viable option in the current car market; buying new or used is far too expensive!
