  1. I've got the front end loosely assembled under the front of the Lie-j. The knuckles and unit bearings add almost a foot to the width! it's gonna be wild!

  3. @NorcalGma2 Aired down the tires & put driftwood under them for traction.😊

Pro tips! Someone in the truck has to had to have been #OffRoading on sand or soft dirt before! 🤷‍♂️

But did you have a compressor or a CO2 tank to air the tires back up when you hit the pavement again? 🤔

  8. Day-after thought: the biggest upgrade wasn’t “better color tools” or “more features.” It was reliability. Clipchamp made me do admin work just to start creating. Resolve makes me learn, but it doesn’t waste my time on nonsense.

If you’re in the same “I just want to edit my footage” boat, the Field Note’s here: adventureadjacent.com/2025/12/

Share your experience in upgrading tools. I remember my leap from Audacity to Reaper was huge, but well worth the effort!

  9. Clipchamp had me re-linking the same media so often it felt like I was paying a toll to work on my own project. Same folders. Same computer. Same footage. New round of “prove it” every time.

So I switched to DaVinci Resolve which is less “drag and drop” and more “welcome to the cockpit.” I wrote up what tripped me up (nodes, Groups, Fairlight, multi-cam syncing) and the small moments where it finally started to make sense.

Also: I’m cutting my first multi-angle / multi-camera trail video right now! Fishing Creek Revisited (working title), from an early August run at Fishing Creek Nature Preserve. It’s the first time the edit feels like what my brain wanted to make, not just footage stitched together.

Have you ever rage quit a piece of software only to find something more complex but profoundly better? Tell me about it!

  14. Random thought while driving to pickup things… having seen quick videos of people torture testing vehicles and the inevitable commercials of vehicles “off-roading”… does anyone outside certain occupations intentionally off road anymore? Are the commercials just to show that the vehicle will handle a pothole in the sub-urban outback? Dirt road cruising isn’t off roading.

  17. 3:30 AM start on the "Roof of the World." Driving the Pamir Highway in total darkness, dodging soul-eating potholes & thousand-foot drops to the Panj River—with Afghanistan just across the border. Our full-size Tundra “Shehzadi” barely fit the crumbling cliffside track. A terrifying, brilliant ballet in the dark.
