  1. First time user of ghostty terminal + starship prompt, tried it out on the new work lappie and liked it so much I've now got it on my personal. The bloatware on iTerm2 has gotten to the tipping point for me, and this is just a wonderful replacement. Thank you @mitchellh for making the tech world a better place!!

    #ghostty #StarshipPrompt #zsh

  2. Someone here posted about the #Starship prompt for the terminal once. I liked it a lot and decided to try. Then I found out #iTerm2 - a better terminal emulator. Then there were themes, color schemes, and finally, I discovered #Fish shell.

I now want to spend more time in my terminal than in UI.

    Starship prompt: starship.rs
    Fish shell: fishshell.com
    iTerm2: iterm2.com

    #terminalEmulator #FishShell #StarshipPrompt #terminal #console #homelab

  7. I fell into another hole. You see, there is no #OhMyPosh in #VoidLinux, only #StarshipPrompt. So I thought about it… And now I have styled my prompt in #Nushell itself, no other stuff necessary.

It doesn’t do anything fancy, just picks colors based on hostname and also shows status of a git directory. So 100% the same as my Oh My Posh config.

  8. Having played with #OhMyPosh ohmyposh.dev/ under bash and zsh with mostly default settings, I kind of like the idea of a souped up #TerminalPrompt

But it can be a bit slow when the filesystem is under load.

    Is #StarshipPrompt any better starship.rs/ ?

Or #PurePrompt github.com/sindresorhus/pure seems nice but minimal...

  13. Setting up a new #webdev machine, I stumbled upon #StarshipPrompt, and I am well impressed how it creates a simple cross-shell approach to managing one's terminal prompt starship.rs/

  14. Switched to Fish Shell from ZSH, and combined with Starship Prompt, I'm finally at zero config to get all the features I need. Everything just works and looks nice. Also Fish scripting is really nice. #FishShell #StarshipPrompt

  15. @[email protected] Thanks. doesn't seem to notice this shell change though, while it does for 'nix-shell -p git-extras --run fish'. Shouldn't be a :fish_shell: issue though.

UPDATE: nix-shell sets the IN_NIX_SHELL=[im]pure environment variable (and a whole bunch of others) while nix shell only touches the PATH. Hard to detect for any program that this change happened!

  16. @jchannon #StarshipPrompt looks really nice by default and has some #dotnet stuff built in. This is my prompt with almost no customisation (I only installed and use the #JetBrains Mono #NerdFont in #iTerm2.

  21. It's been a couple of months since I posted about but back at it today with . This beautiful shell prompt is such a pleasure to use. And for being so customizable it's funny how any Starship user can instantly recognize its use in another developer's shell.
