🇫🇷 Quelques vues d'Ecosse lors du voyage en juin 2005 dans les Highlands à Kingussie.

Derrière ScotRail se cachent plusieurs opérateurs : jusqu'en 1997, c'était un des secteurs de British Rail, l'entreprise nationale des chemins de fer britanniques. Entre 1997 et 2004, c'est National Express qui était à la manoeuvre et à partir de 1994 jusqu'en 2022, c'était le groupe First qui opérait le franchise. Depuis 2022, ScotRail est de nouveau publique sous l'égide du gouvernement régional d'Ecosse.

1. Un autorail Class 170 Turbostar toujours dans la livrée "National Express" arrive à Kingussie avec un train vers Inverness.

2. En gare d'Aviemore, point de départ de la ligne historique du Strathspey Railway vers Broomhill, un couplage d'autorails Class 158 quitte la gare vers Inverness.

3. En gare de Broomhill sur la ligne préservée.

4. Manoeuvre de remise en tête de la machine à vapeur en gare de Broomhill sur le Strathspey Railway.

🇫🇷 Un #traintrackTuesday triple aujourd'hui avec quelques photos du weekend dernier :

1. Une locomotive Vectron de l'opérateur autrichien DPB qui vient s'arrêter juste bien près du banc où j'attends le dernier train de mon voyage vendredi dernier (en retard, what else?) à Bonn-Hbf.

2. Le train étant tellement plein et rempli de soûlards, je suis descendu à l'arrêt suivant, Bonn UN-Campus, pour prendre un autre train (qui aussi en retard mais au moins plus calme!) ce qui m'a donné l'occasion de saisir ce train RB vers Köln-Messe/Deutz opéré par l'opérateur NationalExpress composé de deux automotrices Talent 2 du constructeur Bombardier (ex-Talbot).

3. Samedi, à la fin de la rando, devant l'entrée du "Märchenland", un parc des contes de fées, j'ai pu saisir ces deux Désiro HC de l'opérateur NationalExpress qui exploite les trains RE Koblenz - Oberhausen-Hbf (normalement ils vont à Wesel mais suite à des travaux... sont limités plus en amont).

🇬🇧 a triple #traintrackTuesday for today with photos taken during the weekend :

1. A Vectron locomotive from the Austrian operator DPB which stops just near the bench where I am waiting for the last train of my trip last Friday (late, what else?) in Bonn-Hbf.

2. The train being so full and full of drunks, I got off at the next stop, Bonn UN-Campus, to catch another train (which was also late but at least quieter!) which gave me the opportunity to photograph this RB train to Köln-Messe/Deutz operated by NationalExpress with two Talent 2 EMUs from the manufacturer Bombardier (formerly Talbot).

3. Saturday, at the end of the hike, in front of the entrance to "Märchenland", a fairytale park, I was able to photograph these two Desiro HC from the operator NationalExpress on a RE Koblenz - Oberhausen-Hbf trains (normally they go to Wesel but following engineering works... are limited further upstream).

On notera aussi au passage les plaques en émail pour signaler la classe et le fait que c'est non fumeur. (et l'orthographe de l'époque de fabrication de ces rames : "rooken" et non "roken" = fumer en français).

🇬🇧 In the spirit of yesterday's photos about the railway museum of Utrecht I published yesterday, a glimpse through the window of a Nederlandse Spoorwegen DMU Mat'34 on a third class compartment. By the way, we'll notice the enamel plates to indicate the class and the fact that it is non-smoking. (and the way to write "rooken" instead of "roken" = to smoke in English).

🇫🇷 Début mai 2006, j'effectuais une visite au musée des chemins de fer néerlandais à Utrecht, quelques impression de la visite il y a 20 ans.

1. Les autorails DE-I ou "Blauwe Engelen" (Anges bleus) était surnommé ainsi à cause de leur livrée. Ils circulaient sur des lignes secondaires et même en trafic transfrontalier entre Maastricht et Liège dans les années 1970.
2. Locomotive de la série 1000, les premières machines des NS aux côté des célèbres automotrices "Hondekop" (tête de chien) et une "Sprinter" de première génération.

4. Une machine de la série 1100 dans son état d'origine, ces machines sont de fabrication française (Alsthom comme l'entreprise s'appelait alors) semblable aux BB 8100 de la SNCF. A côté, on peut apercevoir un bout d'un autorail diesel Mat'34.

🇬🇧 Early May 2006, I visited the National Dutch Railway Museum in Utrecht. A few impressions of that visit 20 years ago.

1. The DE-I railcars nicknamed "Blauwe Engelen" (Blue Angel) because of their livery. They operated mainly on branch lines but also in International traffic between Maastricht and Liège in the 1970's.
2. A Class 1000 Electric locomotive, the first of the NS next to one of the most known EMU in Netherlands : the "Hondekop" (Dog's head) and a "Sprinter" of the first generation.
3. Dreaming for a moment with this carriage of the CIWL (International Company of Sleeping-Cars) Orient-Express.
4. A locomotive class 1100 in original state and livery. They were built by Alsthom (like the company then was named) and are looking identical as some SNCF locomotives too. (SNCF class BB 8100). Next to it, we can see a piece of a DMU class Mat'34.

Sur la première photo, une rame composée d'une machine série 4000 en tête d'une rame réversible de DoSto emprunte le viaduc en courbe entre la rue de Trèves et la route N1.

Sur la seconde photo, une automotrice Z 2000 qui, à cette époque, étaient encore bien actives sur les trains RB (RegionalBunn) vers Diekirch (Dikrech) notamment, circule sur le viaduc passe en contrebas du plateau du Kirchberg.

🇫🇷 Juste après le pont sur le canal de Willebroek se trouve une gare particulière : la halte royale de Laeken. Située le long de la ligne Bruxelles-Nord - Jette - Denderleeuw. Elle est située dans le domaine royal et semble bien mal en point... A la fin du XIXe siècle il avait même été étudié la possibilité de créer un raccordement souterrain à travers le parc royal pour rejoindre le palais royal.

🇬🇧 Just after the bridge over the Willebroek canal there is a special railway station: the royal railway station of Laeken. Located along the Brussels-North - Jette - Denderleeuw railway, it is located in the royal domain and seems in very bad shape... At the end of the 19th century the possibility of creating an underground connection through the royal park to reach the royal palace was even studied.

🇫🇷 Quelques photos de trains aux Pays-Bas entre 1997 et 2002 que j'ai scannées cet après-midi :

1. Un autorail DE-II (ex-NS) qui avait été utilisé par Syntus au début de la reprise de l'exploitation des lignes régionales dans la province de Twente entre Zutphen et Winterswijk notamment garé à Hengelo (?).

2. En gare de Den Haag-Centraal, la locomotive 1851 de NS-Reizigers (ex-série 16) en tête d'une rame de voitures ex-SNCB/ex-SNCF en partance pour Venlo. Les voitures portent la livrée SNCB des années 1980-1990 et le logo des NS. La SNCB avait racheté à la SNCF ces voitures pour combler un manque de matériel et les a ensuite cédé aux NS pour les mêmes raisons. Les machines de la série 16/18 des NS sont quasi identiques aux BB-7200 de la SNCF.

3. La voiture de 1ère classe ex-SNCF. On remarquera le système D pour palier l'absence de disque de queue!

4. A Zutphen, un autorail Lint 41 de Syntus est au départ pour Winterswijk en compagnie d'un autorail des NS (ou un de ceux que Syntus avait repris à l'opérateur national) dit "Buffel" (Buffle) ou DM90. Certains de ces autorails circulent actuellement en Pologne et sont alimentés par de l'hydrogène.

🇬🇧 A few photos of Dutch trains taken between 1997 and 2002 I scanned this afternoon :

1. A DE-II DMU who was taken over by Syntus from the NS is stored in Hengelo (?). Syntus used in the beginning ex-NS rolling stock to operate regional services in the province of Twente (Eastern Netherlands) from Zutphen to Winterswijk among other.

2. Electric locomotive 1851 heading a rake of ex-SNCB/ex-SNCF coaching stock forming an Intercity to Venlo. The coaching stock was bought by the SNCB from SNCF due to a lack of stock and was repainted in the typical livery from the 1980-1990's. They were then taken over by the NS and received the logo of the Dutch Railways for the same reason. Class 16/18 locomotives are almost identical to the SNCF BB-7200.

3. A first class ex-SNCF carriage sporting Belgian livery and Dutch logo. Note the "system D" solution to compensate the absence of taillights!

4. In Zutphen, a Lint 41 DMU from Syntus is ready to depart to Winterswijk, next to it, a NS (or ex-NS as Syntus took them also over) Buffel (Buffalo) or DM90. The DM90 DMUs are still operating in Poland and run there thanks to hydrogen.

🇫🇷 Les automotrices Z 2N NG des CFL (Série 2200) subissent actuellement une modernisation extérieure et intérieure et les rames en version d'origine deviennent par conséquent de plus en plus rares. La 2218 en tête d'un très long convoi de trois automotrices dont les deux autres sont modernisées (les 2201 et 2209) partira bientôt comme TER 88739 vers Metz-Ville. Luxembourg-Ville cet après-midi.

🇬🇧 CFL EMUs Class 2200 (Z 2N NG) are undergoing a deep interior refurbishing and get a new livery. The consequence is that the units in original version are disappearing with the time. The 2218 is one of the unit in original outfit and in company of the 2201 and 2209, it will work the 14:39 TER (88739) from Luxembourg to Metz-Ville. Photo taken this afternoon.

🇫🇷 En scannant de nouvelles photos : la Belgique et ses perles linguistiques!

En gare de Brussel-Nationaal Luchthaven (aujourd'hui appelée Brussels-Airport) en 2002, une automotrice "break" bien taggée... attend le départ vers Mons et Quévy. Ne cherchez cependant pas Mons sur le panneau, c'est Bergen! La cause? Les lois linguistiques qui obligent à n'afficher qu'en néerlandais les destination puisque la gare de l'aéroport se situe en... Flandre!

Autrefois en cul-de-sac, la gare de l'aéroport est aujourd'hui une gare de passage avec de nombreuses relations intérieures et internationales qui y font arrêt avant de poursuivre leur route vers la province. Autrefois, les trains effectuaient uniquement la navette entre Bruxelles-Central et l'aéroport avec un quai 1A qui donnait accès au terminal Sabena en surface. Six automotrices doubles spécialement adaptée pour la relation qu'effectuaient ces navettes.

In "Brussel-Nationaal-Luchthaven" (nowadays Brussels-Airport), in 2002, a "Break" EMU (totally tagged...) is waiting to depart to Mons and Quévy. Don't look at Mons on the display, it's Bergen! Why? Because Belgium has linguistic laws and it is compulsory to show city names only in Dutch as the railway station of the Airport is in... Flanders!

Then, the railway station had only dead-end tracks but today, it's a through railway station with many domestic and international services that call at the Airport before continuing their journey across the country. In the beginning, there were only shuttle services from Brussels-Central (from Platform 1A) to the Airport operated with six 2-Car EMUs specially designed for those services. Platform 1A had also a direct access to a SABENA lounge in surface.

De Tweede Kamer stemt voor een motie die onderzoek naar heropening van de spoorlijn Nijmegen-Kleef bepleit. Verkiezingstijd dus morgen gratis bier.

Dat is grappig zeg, daar fietste ik dus pas.

Tussen Groesbeek en Kleef ligt het spoor nog maar daar rijden tegenwoordig draisines – fietsen zich over rails kunnen voortbewegen. Tot voor kort had ik het nooit in het echt gezien.

🇫🇷 Retour en juin 2000 et dans la gare de ma jeunesse pour la série ferroviaire. Le bâtiment de gare existe toujours mais abrite un centre de planning familial aujourd'hui. A l'époque, il y avait encore une petite cabine de signalisation, le block 20. Les quais ont été modernisés et un passage sous les voies a rendu le personnel inutile. Quand j'étais adolescent, il y avait un guichet et du personnel pour assurer la traversée en toute sécurité. Herstal est située sur la ligne 34 Liège - Tongeren - Hasselt.

🇬🇧 Back in June 2000 and in the railway station of my youth for this railway related photos. The station still exists but is no more used by the railway but is used by a Family Planning Center nowadays. In that time, there was also a small signal box, the Block 20. Platforms have been revamped and a corridor under the tracks was build. When I was a teenager, there was a ticket office and staff to secure the crossing of the tracks. Herstal is located on railway Line 34 Liège - Tongeren - Hasselt.
