  6. I've had an enquiry about this fading fascia that has been retained in situ at 74 Southwark Bridge Road, London SE1*.

    It's a palimpsest for R. Sullivan (Wardrobe Dealer) and what someone once told me were metal workers A. Liechti

    Various street directories between 1882–1939 have a tobacconists here, including those prior to 1900 when the house number looks like it was 56. However, the Liechti sign also seems to have the number 58 or 68 on it...

    The presence of 74 on the Sullivan layer means that that sign at least is post-1939, unless that business was a short-lived occupancy between two tobacconists.

    Can anyone shed any further light on it all?
