So I'm currently trying out bandsintown.com. It's an okay-ish replacement for #Songkick, but not a great one.

- You can import your favorite artists from Spotify, Apple Music, etc. but not from Bandcamp.
- You can follow concert locations, which is nice.
- I'm missing "I'm interested"/"I'm going" for events (and use that history for recommendations as well)
- Same for "Don't recommend band/genre"

(I have so many more ideas about recommendations!)

Trying out Songkick to keep track of touring artists, as I never really liked using Bandsintown years ago. The Songkick UI is already way better. Since I don't use Spotify, I just searched for and added all the artists I could think of that I'd want to see. I currently have 105. 😂 Not that I currently or recently make it out to many shows. But still.

One alternative I've found is #ConcertArchives, which offers functionality to import your gig history from #Songkick, and provides a lot of interesting statistics. Alas, there is no API, but you can export your data as CSV. My profile is https://www.concertarchives.org/whatisbetter

However, these days their API is very restrictive as they don't give access for hobbyist or education use. I got a #Songkick alert that Blondes are touring, though alas it's a different group with the same name 😞 This got me thinking that aside from #MusicBrainz and sometimes on #Spotify, music services very rarely differentiate bands that have the same name and this is problematic for things like listening charts
