My copy of Star Trek: Captain's Log arrived. It looks like fun! I don't necessarily need another solo ttrpg to play, but I couldn't resist this particular game. Writing little captain's logs sounds like a perfect use of an afternoon or two.

Lost for any #paintingminis inspiration staring at this #reapermini Ape Demon for a few years now but took a break from career devt tonight and the scheme came to me as a bit of catharsis I didn’t know I needed for one of the first demonic hordes I struggled against early in my professional career. Now, just have to find a justification to destroy this guy in a #SoloRoleplaying adventure.

I’m curious to know if anyone in the #minipainting sphere can help me identify these wee army men with a very colonial marines aesthetic. Pewter from mid to late 90s if memory serves which it rarely does. I’m thinking they were in an unbranded bag in a bargain bin. Airdry clay base on right front took a whack and crumbled. Also are some larger monsters finally getting attention after waiting since 2020 when I went all in on #SoloRoleplaying

looks like i have began my first ever #ttrpg tale, and oh man have i gone down a rabbit hole… i blame @birv2 who was careless enough to mention solo rpg system #ironsworn and omg it's completely nsfw, hell it's nsfwfl (as in: work, family and life), — thank you!
anyways, i have zero exp. with this — not only the #soloRolePlaying, but i've never actually played ad&d (computer versions don't count here) if you can believe it. so i learn as i go, and it must be ugly; also i'm blending in a lot of #dwarfFortress stuff because i just love df.
so it started a bit like this: a young dwarf deprived of heritage vows to go to the edge of the world to find a long since forgotten city, restart a mythical forge and accomplish the task of his late father by creating a legendary weapon. he would stay at home and actually learn a craft, but well, what do you expect of those youngsters? says his much older companion, a grumpy scarred axedwarf who has seen danger before. but it's going to be oh so much fun and we'll see the world! says the other companion, a young and almost elfishly curious dwarf fascinated by myths of gods and giants. and the three know nothing about why the old city is in ruins and such a powerful forge is cold and unused… -

Grabbed some #odnd sources lately. White Box (FMAG) in print, and #swordsandwizardry in pdf. I was not a gamer Back in the Day, but I'm loving the simplicity and pure fun, along with low fantasy adventure that these promise. Looking forward to #soloroleplaying with them or maybe even joining or dm'ing a group. Hit me up with resources! I've dm'ed 3.5e, 5e, and Shadowdark. Also looking for #sandbox tips.

Just downloaded #nodequest for #soloroleplaying from DriveThruRPG. Watched a couple playthroughs last night and thought it looked like lots of fun! Plus so simple, which attracted me. Simple is good. #ttrpg Maybe a good starting place before #adnd and #ironsworn.

They could corrupt an officer with access to a submarine, but had to leave him behind while stealing it, just to accidentally sink their own ship while trying to set an example by blowing up a city.

Thinking about doing some #soloroleplaying and choosing a method. Have never done this, and I'm not sure if I'd like more crunchy, more narrative/journaling, or somewhere on that sliding scale. I do like writing. Right now looking hard at #ironsworn and #delve. Makes a difference because I want to spend actual $$ and don't want to waste limited resources!
Thinking now of doing #ironsworn and using Tome of Adventure Design (already have pdf) for tables.

@theAeon Nice, the Hero System sounds quite close to the Traveller one, actually, maybe even simpler. :) (2d6 with modifier from skill and attribute, roll above, combat is same skill checks as well)
Oh yeah, it's hard enough to find dnd players, I can't imagine trying to assemble a Traveller group. 😅 I solved this (and the frustration of never playing a campaign that reaches its conclusion) by going the #soloRoleplaying way, personally.
Initially I was just taking it as novel writing with mixing in dice rolling from dnd ruleset to spice things up, then I discovered that solo roleplaying is actually a thing, with its community (/r/Solo_Roleplaying on reddit), its tools (Mythic GME and similar), and a heavily tinkerer mindset that resonated with me immediately. I can vouch for it : if you have games you can't find people to play it with, it's a great way to play them, especially if you love writing.

@Thiseffingm Wow, that sounds… brutal. Not saying it's not deserved, just that I really wouldn't want to find myself in that situation : if tension reaches that level, I would probably have stopped having fun long before it happens. One more good reason to go #soloroleplaying :) (although, the #1 reason for me is to play campaigns that actually reach conclusion)

@randomwizard Missed the RC when it was released. Not that anyone would play what they only called basic D&D. AD&D, Warhammer, then Vampire: The Masquerade were the heavy hitters. Rifts was all I could get players interested in consistently. I only picked up a battered copy of the RC years later trying to fill holes in my Mystara collection. But I’d already gone rogue from the canon setting and was rolling my own bespoke version of Mystara for my own fun. #DND #OSR #SoloRoleplaying

Started these Frostgrave Gnolls in 2021. Table ready (not competition) as part of my chaotic evil horde for months but haven’t been fielded in battle. None of my #Pathfinder #CastlesAndCrusades #5ednd #ForbiddenLands #SoloRoleplaying campaigns have seen any gnoll/wolfkin. Began by emulating hyaena colours. Got bored fast, went full doggo for these boys. Each one is easily identifiable this way. Reaper gnoll archer and Chainmail demonic gnoll tower above my doggo mook buddies. #minipainting

I'm just getting into solo play, and I'm looking to run a dungeon with OSE + Solo Heroes.
I'm thinking of using B1 In Search of the Unknown, but does anyone have any other recommendations for relatively simple OSR dungeon to run through? Does not have to be made for solo play. I'm looking to play through some classics using BX / OSE
