Today, I saved 2 #iPhone and a remote from the garbage. All of them needed… new batteries…
One of the phones will go to family when it is replaced in the fall; the other will become the new “home phone”, replacing a 12-year old sibling, which well earned its retirement.
The remote is a #HarmonyElite, which I had to resurrect since its intended replacement, the #Sofabaton #X1S which wasn’t able to fill its shoes and is now relegated to another setup.

Considering the website traffic and comments received for my #Sofabaton post, people care about universal remotes much more than I anticipated. Here is everything you need to know before you get one of these yourself.

I don't own a TV, I do own a sofa. This makes me at least 50% qualified to answer the burning question in my latest article! Everything you need to know about this universal remote from #Sofabaton

Super...

Getting a single universal remote to replace all the remotes in the living room turned out to be a game changer. I highly recommend getting one.
I was able to download the codes for all the devices, no manual programming was necessary!
I find that I am actually enjoying watching stuff on the TV in the living room now. It seems like having to switch between remotes or remote apps on phone had affected my enjoyment subconsciously.

The tech nerdery is in full swing here since I cut the cable (TV anyway) and went with streaming services. Today’s addition was a “SofaBaton U2” smart remote. Love our #Harmony 680 but it’s long in the tooth and #Logitech have abandoned them. #SofaBaton is different and in a way a lot more straightforward. Can be easily programmed via phone app/Bluetooth. Did the config this afternoon. You have a wheel at the top of the remote and after setting up some devices, the wheel allows you to select one and instantly changes the remote into a controller for that device. I programmed the color keys to switch inputs between my #FireStick, Odroid/KODI media center unit, #PS5 and #Switch. Works intuitively now. And god, the amount of streaming tv and movies we have here made my wife say that she feels like we’ve been living in the dark ages for years. 🤯
I kind of agree.
