  6. "Just as terms like #sobercurious offered a more nonjudgmental alternative for people who wanted to examine their relationship with drinking, Warrington sees #boysober as a more colloquial, human way to talk about people’s personal struggles with #sex & #relationships.
“…language like that allows people to open up and feel more comfortable talking about deeper issues."

  12. I'm not really feeling NYE this year. I'm exhausted, I'm bored of celebrations centered around alcohol, I'm frustrated that many of my friends will probably go to large, crowded events without any COVID precautions. I don't even really feel comfortable celebrating anything right now when the world is such a shit show.

But I also can't 100% ignore the FOMO. 🥲 I want better options.

  19. I've been following and also partaking in what some call #sobercurious with much interest, as people very close to me affected by #alcoholism. The UK is very much a drinking culture, but this article gives me hope that people, particularly the younger generation, are finding that #alcohol isn't necessary to socialise theguardian.com/commentisfree/

  20. Someone needs to make a list, perhaps on #OpenStreetMap, of all the pubs that have alcohol-free beer on tap. The last few trips to the pub, I've noticed more and more of my mates are drinking beers like Lucky Saint #sobercurious

  21. Feeling good. Am halfway through a 28-day challenge and so far am actually sticking to it. I’ve never done that before. Walking 8000 steps, meditating and doing yoga every day. I’ve drunk just once in two weeks, just one glass of wine. I have to say, I feel gloriously calm and happy. Hoping life doesn’t divebomb me off course and i get to finish what I started.

  22. Very unexpectedly I find myself on day 14 of no alcohol. I don’t know that I’m #SoberCurious just seeking to re-frame my relationship with booze. It hasn’t really been much of an issue, I’m happy to say. But I do wonder if I can stick to one or two glasses tomorrow when friends come, or if I just plough on and do a month. It’s raclette with friends tho! And i really fancy some Riesling…

  24. Reading a lot of these things as I wait for Dry January to end.

I'm not really sober curious, and can't yet get my head round non-alcoholic spirits, but a dry month is proving to be a much needed reset after December's excesses.

  25. There are some damn fine N/A beverages to be had. Back when I did drink, I was quite a beer snob. I'm hella pleased at how excellent breweries like Athletic Brewing Co and Sober Carpenter are gaining ground. I used to get weird looks and prying questions when I would say I don't drink at social functions. "But *why* don't you drink?" As if this needs socially-acceptable justification.
